Subject: Jedi: what unclean beasts? From: Steve Parkes Date: 24 Apr 01 - 08:08 AM Ifthe move to get Jedi recognised as an "official" religion in the UK succeeds, I think it would be useful to know what it proscribes. Can we declare the sheep to be unclean? We can then object to children being taught "Mary had a little lamb", for example. (I believe a similar thing happened with the three little pigs with the Moslems. It's this kind of thing that lets people know your religion is a force to be reckoned with.) May the twenty-fourth be with you, Steve |

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Crazy Eddie Date: 24 Apr 01 - 08:35 AM "Steal the forks, Luke. Steal the forks" Can we have a sacred animal too? I'd like to nominate the Dormouse ('cos it's cute) or possibly the Aardvark. :o) On the other hand we could nominate the possum, making Spaw either a saint or a heretic, depending on interopretation! But please, let's not pick anyone else's sacred animal as our unclean animal or anyone else's unclean animal as our sacred one. There's enough conflict in the world already.

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Caitrin Date: 26 Apr 01 - 12:26 PM Hey now, Midchuck! The fact that I like Star Wars doesn't change the fact that I've read more than my fair share of Heinlein, Asimov, and Verne. As for stage name, I end up as "Marie Spring". *grins* Good thing I'm a techie and don't need it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Mad Maudlin Date: 26 Apr 01 - 01:44 PM Right, Caitrin, the same goes for me. I've read nearly everything of Asimov, Heinlein, Niven, the whole bunch. good to know that there's another Asimov fan out there, I thought I was the sole survivor :-)

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Naemanson Date: 26 Apr 01 - 03:03 PM You ain't the only survivor, Mad Maudlin. On the day Isaac died I stood in my living room and cried. It signalled the passing of an era. Heinlein, Niven, Asimov, Anderson, etc. Some gone some still with us. the new guys have a whole different flavor. But that's the thread creep we need to avoid.
I'm a Mudwookie, brash and big, |

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Mad Maudlin Date: 26 Apr 01 - 04:28 PM Naemanson, your Wookie poetry is really cool! The full body wig nearly made me snort my tea all over my monitor! There's a cartoon in it somewhere, I'll see if I get it out. Wish I could write fun stuff like that, but sadly, I'm just a scrawny little Rebel pilot in dire need of a haircut and no sense for poetry...but wait...there's something creeping into my brain:
The Rebel Pilot's Space Chantey
Then I'll cut off my long yellow hair, Ahem. My two cents. (Yeah I know, but it's late at night here so don't yell at me :-)

Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Mad Maudlin Date: 26 Apr 01 - 05:10 PM Yes, indeed. To be exact, from Germany. Didn't you notice the accent? :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Jedi religion: what unclean beasts? From: Naemanson Date: 26 Apr 01 - 10:18 PM Answer: 9W Question: Do you spell you name with a "V", Herr Wagner? (Stolen from the pun thread) No I didn't notice any accent. Funny about the coincidence. One of my coworkers just left today to visit her daughter in Germany.

She should have picked a better time, though, the weather is rotten over here--not that it's always raining: No! It also hails! Wish I was back on Tatooine...
Oh give me a home where the Sandpeople roam,

From: Naemanson Date: 27 Apr 01 - 02:47 PM A Mudwoookie am I, And I fly Tattooine;s skies In search of Darth Todd Whose eye is rather odd His light razor's slick, And he shaved me so quick And when the hair was gone And on the floor scattered round This Wookie now pale and pink, Away to hide had to slink But now once more I stand and roar Over the sands I dip and soar, Revenge is all that's on my mind, That barber I swear I'll find, My body wig covers me well, Once more with pride I swell Soon I'll have my fill And his life's blood I will spill.

We're close to the Death Star, it hangs in the sky,
We're a bunch of no-goods but still we win fame,
And when this is over we'll have such a binge,
