Subject: Lyr Add: HERMAN THE WORM From: GUEST,killercutie Date: 08 May 03 - 05:11 PM It took me forever to find these lyrics of Herman the Worm. This is that greatest song ever. HERMAN THE WORM Herman was squirming His way back to his home. His girlfriend named Patti Had left him all alone. She turned into a butterfly And flew away into the sky. CHORUS: Poor Herman the worm! All of his hearts were broken, But he never gave up on love. Well, Herman, that sad soul, He had a tragic life. His father was fish bait. The early bird took his wife. His grandma wasn't very sly. She ended in an apple pie. REPEAT CHORUS Now Herman found him Another love so strong. They squirmed in the blue grass Till a lawnmower came along. That couple never had a clue, And breaking up is hard to do. REPEAT CHORUS |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Herman the worm From: GUEST,dan Date: 12 May 06 - 01:00 PM This is a great song for camps. Here are the chords I use (the lyrics I know are just slightly different): Capo 2 chorus: C (Her-) G (Worm) Am (All) Em (bro-) F (nev-) G (up) C (love) [to G first time through and repeat] Verses: C (Her-) G (squirm-) C (way) G (home) C (girl-) G (Sal-) F (left) G (-lone) F (turned) G (-fly) F (flew) G (sky) I wish I knew the writer of this song so I could credit him/her. The camp I was working at picked the song up at a camping conference in Chicago, and I think the writer was there teaching it...but I hadn't made it to the conference that year (1999 maybe?). When we would perform it with the kids, we'd throw in a little drama to the final chorus, pausing after the last 'up' and shouting 'No!' and repeating 'he never gave up (NO!)' a couple times. I'm guessing even that came from the conference and the original writer. Great fun. |
