'fraid not. The Mrs Casey lot of festivals are just too expensive these days; they have priced themselves out of my range. Have a good time anyway, I'm sure there's plenty of 'catters going to be there. Historically it was always a good festival, I'm sure it still is.

Want to go to festivals cheap? Don't drink much?? Volunteer to be a steward. They always need good reliable folk to stand in a field and look at people's wrists. If you have the brain of a stunned mackeral, you could be a steward, you just need to be reliable. Any other skills are useful. Especially shouting. And looking silly in a flash jacket.

That aside, it gets you a free ticket in exchange for a little work, and it is great fun. I've done it for about 5 years now (since Phoebe was born) and love it. Even in the rain. So yes, I'll be at Towersey. I'm the one without a beard.

Well, having consulted the astrological charts, drawn up spreadsheets on both Excel and Lotus 123, we have concluded that given a following wind and no 'R' in the month -then yes, we are going to Towersey! (I use to be decisive, but now I'm not so sure). Can't change our minds because we've sent for the tickets! Looking forward to meeting LTS and Morticia who missed out on the Yorkshire do and reacquainting with Micca and Geordie Broon. Also going to Warwick in July, Robin Hoods Bay next weekend Beverley the weekend after and Otley in September and if we can sneak Fylde in we will. (God knows when I'm going to fit my holidays in!

Er -Gervase where are the usual places and who are the usual suspects? I am also glad King Brilliant mentioned the ridgeback. I am not usually in favour of taking my pet dog to these places since she is old and has occassionally been known to clear a room with the accidenta noxious odour or two which I usually blame the husband for in order to save the dog embarrassment. However, it is costing me on average £50 per festival to put her in kennels, so if I can get away with the odd festival with old pebbles in tow then I would be in pocket. Do Towersey have a dog policy - if not then do you know of kennels nearby?

I' m sure I've seen plenty of dogs wandering around site two at Towersey - I can't remember if the organisers have a stated policy on mutts, hounds and pooches, but you could always give 'em a buzz.
As for the usual places and the usual suspects, it tends to be the barn at the Three Horseshoes for the singing during the day and any one of a number of tents belonging to meself, Micca, Liz the Squeak, Morticia, Jude, Beelzebub or whatever on site one for the craic into the wee hours.
That and the bogs...but that's intruding into private grief!

PS: As for noxious odours; don't worry about giving a dog a bad name. Anything that the old pooch lets fly will surely be blamed on me. It usually is.

King - the policy on dogs at Towersey is they are fine as long as they are kept under control, (this usually means on a lead, but quite a lot of people ignore this) but I do believe they are excluded from the village hall. The pub has changed hands again, and may have a no dog policy, but as long as they behave, the barn is usually dog friendly... Pearl will probably kill you if you don't take her in, especially if she is cute and slobbery... the dog, not Pearl, although she has had her moments.....

Cheers Liz. Will look out for your cheery face in the mornings. Mine will be all saggy and grey looking, and lined with pain as I shield my eyes from the morning light & stumble to the bogs. Ickel Dorrit - we have been taking our dogs for years, as it is one of the few festivals where dogs are welcome. But they must be on leads all the time - and we carry plastic bags if y'know what I mean.
Noni is a great festival dog as she has been stone deaf from birth & so doesn't mind sitting near speakers & doesn't get excited about all the noise.
Its great taking your dog to Towersey because they kind of introduce you to people don't they!! They get loads of fuss and attention, and cruising past the chip van on the way back to the campsite can take a while....
We did have a bit of embarassment with Noni one year in the arena. I don't know if it was race-memory (she's a Rhodesian Ridgeback) or what - but she went wild as soon as the South African dancers came on & the arena was too crouded to get her out. I had to hold her down and cover her face. I hope they saw the funny side....
Other games you can play with your dog at Towersey: Do you remember the year that all the girlies were wearing fairy-wings? Well Mark decided he wanted wings too - so he made a set of big cardboard wings each for him & Noni. We tied them round the dog with that police-tape stuff, and they proudly wore them all day. Next day we did her up as a morris dog, with more police-tape tied in bows round her legs. Sounds cruel, but she was quite happy - and of course got lots of attention (which she likes).

Kris -I have a degree in plastic bags -I recommend Tesco's. Pebbles is a veteran of folk events in Robin's Hood Bay Whitby and Holmfirth and can generally be found under any pub table fast asleep. She is known as the Ginger Whinger in our household, because she is always hungry and moans that I don't feed her enough(which I do).

Louisa, if you don't get a lift, there is a bus from Oxford Town Centre to Thame, or else there is a railway station at Haddenham Parkway. Both are still a couple of miles from Towersey, but at least now there is a bus service from Thame to Towersey. It is possible to walk it though. Haddenham Parkway is a bit further away, but is the closest railway station. It may be possible to hitch from there or cadge a lift as it isn't so awkward as Oxford to get through. I can't remember if I'm stewarding Thurs evening or not, but I usually have my pre-festival migraine about then, when I can barely remember my name, let alone how to drive a car.....

Is everyone on site one then? We are on site two. We're hoping to find some likeminded souls to sing/play/chat into the early hours. Best targets are groups of people with a gazebo & instruments - 100% success rate so far this year.

Louisa - I've emailed you at the address you gave above in case you still need a lift. If you opt to go by train then you're best to go to Oxford & get the bus to Thame I expect. To get to Haddenham from Reading by rail you have to go via Banbury so its a hell of a long way round - though we did it last year (car was dead) & it wasn't too terrible.

Louisa - that means you get to meet EVERYBODY if you're giving out the wristbands - so you can't fail to meet 'catters - you just might not know at the time....
Is it those papery wristbands again? They look dodgy, but they are amazingly strong. You can even swim in them.
(You'd need a costume too though probably..)

A pool? Well Ok, there isn't one. But the important point is that if there were a pool then you could use it with confidence. So the costume must be for the Sunday then. In which case & in my case definitely not a swimming costume.

Definately Oxfam, but Posh Oxfam. It all started with my hen night, 11 years ago next Sat.... Men could come, but only if they were dressed correctly..... it sort of grew from there with the anniversary cocktail party the following year, when we couldn't be arsed to change before going to the pub..... and so a legend is born.
