Subject: RE: Help: Home Recording Technical Question From: Maryrrf Date: 23 Jul 01 - 02:46 PM I record from a minidisk to PC using Soundblaster Live sound card and Cool Edit, a basic version of which you can download for about $50.00. I purchases a small connector cable which plugs into the "line in" jack. A very good site to visit and post a question such as this is http://www.homerecording.com - let's see if I can do a blue clicky |
Subject: RE: Help: Home Recording Technical Question From: GUEST,Russ Date: 23 Jul 01 - 01:56 PM I really like Sound Forge. Went to it after trying some of the free/cheap/shareware programs. I use a portable Sony MiniDisc recorder for field recordings but get the music to the PC using a Sony deck with an optical digital cable from it to my sound card. |

Subject: RE: Help: Home Recording Technical Question From: Jande Date: 22 Jul 01 - 06:17 PM Hi JenEllen... You might try out this fully functional demo of Fruity Loops 3, if you want a free/share ware program. http://www.fruityloops.com/English/frames.html I've heard much good about Fruity Loops. Myself, I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. (Started with Home Studio, moved to Cakewalk PA6, then to CWPA8, now CWPA9) I record on a Sony MiniDisc Recorder and record into Cake through Creative's SBLive LiveDrive (a special thingy* that lets you plug stuff like recorders into the front of your computer). I had to go out and purchase a special type of cable to plug in between the sony and the LiveDrive/Sound Cards, though, as it didn't come with the recorder. CWPA9 has the further advantage of being able to create MP3s right from the program. For some samples of the quality of recording I get, I have some pieces here: I'm sure others will help out with their own favourite music recording programs... Good luck! ~ Jande |
Subject: Help: Home Recording Technical Question From: JenEllen Date: 22 Jul 01 - 05:14 PM I recently received a mini-disc recorder, and have figured out the stereo linkages, etc. I cannot, however, seem to get it to link up to the PC. It did not come with any supportive software, and I'm at a loss. I need a program that will record off my MD player onto the hard drive of my PC. Or some way of making the windows sound recorder record for more than one minute. A program that would record into the .mp3 format would be preferred. I couldn't find any references to this in past threads, or anything valuable at the HomeRecording Links above, but I also might have missed something (it's happened before) Thanks, JenEllen |
