Subject: 'Down From the Mountain' CD released From: SeanM Date: 30 Aug 01 - 12:28 AM Hadn't seen this mentioned, so I thought I'd put it up myself... "Down from the Mountain", the documentary of the benefit concert featuring the music and musicians from the Coen Bros. film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" has been released. I don't know precisely when it came out, but I picked it up. It includes a smattering of items from the soundtrack done live - "Po' Lazarus" done by the Faifield Four, "Big Rock Candy Mountain" done by John Hartford, "I Am Weary" by The Cox Family, and a few others. Also included are several numbers not in the film - "Wild Bill Jones" by Alison Krauss & Union Station, "John Law Burned Down the Liquor Sto'" by Chris Thomas King with Colin Linden, and a few others. 12 tracks total, including a brief intro by Holly Hunter. Fairly good CD. Not as 'upbeat' in my opinion as the soundtrack, but it's overall (IMHO) a pretty good disc. Other opinions? M |
