Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Jan 23 - 06:45 PM Hi, Martin - Max is aware of that problem, but hasn't figured out how to make the clocks sync on the temporary setup of the multiple computers he uses to run Mudcat. It's on his list of needed repairs, but may not be fixed until he makes a complete rebuild early this year. |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 07 Jan 23 - 05:54 PM Thread hijack warning: The timestamps on postings seem to be correct, but the "Mudcat time" shown at the bottom of the page appears to be more than an hour slow. Has the 'Cat started swimming out into the Atlantic :-) ? Copy-pasted from the bottom of the page at the time of typing: Mudcat time: 7 January 4:27 PM EST |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Dec 22 - 07:10 PM Felipa, I've given you access to "editing boxes" many times. You just have to ask. When text turns out all question marks, there's nothing we can do to fix it unless we go back to the original source. When it comes out with ampersand codes, it's a simple matter to correct. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Felipa Date: 24 Dec 22 - 06:29 PM I don't have access to an "editing box", so why did it work for me the first time round - each time I had copied and pasted from the same original document? The second time I posted, I had added br codes to get a line break between the title and the first line and also deleted the extra space between the last two lines of the lyric. Then because that didn't transform from code to Cyrillic, I tried posting a copy of the original again. But although it was the same as the first one I had posted, the first post worked and the later one didn't. |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: DaveRo Date: 24 Dec 22 - 05:17 PM I think what happened was that the text was converted twice. First time from cyrillic into html '&-codes', second time from the already-converted ampersand-codes - which changed the ampersands to & - which displays a & - and left the rest unchanged. (My Mudcat Browser Tools addon does such conversion automatically, btw. I remember having to handle this 'double converstion' problem.) |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Dec 22 - 02:11 PM OK, so here's Felipa's first scrambled post, pasted into an editing box. Will it work?
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Dec 22 - 12:59 PM Oh, that's a tricky one to explain. It depends on the settings of the Mudcat server. On one setting, Mudcat will display "special characters" as they appear. On another setting, ampersand codes are required to display non-ASCII characters correctly. If I copy Felipa's posts and paste them into an editing box, they will display correctly. But if I paste them into a new message, they will look like they do now. In... unless Max changes the settings, and he has limited ability to do that now. |

Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Felipa Date: 24 Dec 22 - 09:38 AM Monique has kindly transcribed the Cyrillic script verses of an old carol, OJ, JAK ŽE BULO IZPREŽDY VIKAOH (HOW IT WAS BEFORE TIME BEGAN) (OY, YAK ZHE BULO IZPREZHDY VIKA according to Google transliteration). If this works okay, I will put it in the Music of Ukraine discussion and I'll add the English translation my reply. Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Rolfyboy6 Date: 01 Jan 02 - 10:48 AM It worked for me, but I didn't vote because there was no Miss Congeniality. No way I could single out only one person for the categories. |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Gareth Date: 01 Jan 02 - 10:35 AM Yet another test. |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Gareth Date: 31 Dec 01 - 05:41 PM Not as at 22.42 local time say 5 minutes ago Sorcha wait 4 refresh the test page then try again please. Gareth |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Sorcha Date: 31 Dec 01 - 05:36 PM I submitted---the screen sort of "blipped" and the puter made a funny noise......I guess it went. |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Gareth Date: 31 Dec 01 - 05:06 PM Amos and Others, can you test please the submissiom form now. Ta! GHareth |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Amos Date: 31 Dec 01 - 05:04 PM Aw Jeri, that's just what Rick needs. Can you teach him to animate it for bass runs? Gareth -- grab your thread back, quick, before Rick gets here!!! :>))

<pre> |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Jeri Date: 31 Dec 01 - 04:48 PM Is it possible to be off-topic in an HTML test thread? To make a chord chart, you can copy and paste the following. Just replace the lines with the one-letter finger designation. If it looks like it lines up on your screen, it will be lined up when you post it. <pre> _____________ |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Gareth Date: 31 Dec 01 - 04:22 PM Good thoughts - on my own machine it anounces on the bar that mail is going. A quick look at Java Script to get an automativ Return I think NB 2 identical submissions received from you. Gareth |
Subject: RE: HTML Test thread From: Amos Date: 31 Dec 01 - 04:17 PM 1. When I clicked submit I got the usual warning about sending nonsecure etcetera, but then nothing to indicate it had been sent. Probably better to return to the Forum when sending is done, similar to the post CFM script. Or at least an announce box saying submission complete. 2. Up to you as the designer but I would think all the candidates could be put on one drop down list which could be used for all the categories in actual voting. But if you don't want to do it in two stages, just count any name entered for the category, this suggestion is irrelevant. In the original thread there are a number of candidates named, for example. Wow, Gareth -- you're fast!! A
