Only a dozen more, Louie and Fran? Why as young as you keep yourselves, why not go for at least 70/75 together?! *Big Smile*

Thanks for "outing" our Joe; he had kind of slipped it into a thread awhile back. I know he is deliriously happy. Hmmmm...wonder if we can get the bride's garter up in the auction; or, a printed invitation to bid on, or, well... something from that momentous occassion?!**BG**

What if we Mudcatters get together and do a song challenge, and write a song as a wedding present for the two of them?

Just a thought...

Good idea, Capri, if only I could write songs. Meanwhile, Joe is going to lose his freedom to:
Be lonely?
Cook for one?
Have only us to debate with?
Go to concerts/restaurants alone?
Drink alone? (not that I know he does.......)
Fantasize late at night?

Joe is not losing his freedom, he is gaining bliss.

I think Louie meant that with tongue firmly planted in his cheek; after all he did wish them at least 56 years of what he's enjoyed.:-)

Capri, great idea. Why don't you start a thread for it?

Song challege thread for JoeOffer (and his True Love's) Wedding gift has been started...

The only thing is, posting these announcements kinda ruins the surprise, doesn't it?

Hmmm. Are you guys trying to embarrass me, or something?

The wedding plans are coming along smoothly. It all happens Saturday at 2 PM. The reception will be a big potluck, and we're hoping music will happen. As far as I know, the only Mudcatters attending will be Jerry and Bev Praver. Everyone's welcome - if you'll be near Sacramento Saturday and want to attend, let me know.
My sister is 1-1/2 years younger than me, and I've always thought of her as my best friend, so I asked her to be my "best man." She's flying out from Boston in time for Friday's "bachelor party" (the monthly meeting of the Sacramento Song Circle).
I can't think of much more we have to do to prepare for the wedding, so maybe this coming week won't be as hectic as the last one. I'm fine, but poor Christina is working a full schedule and she's really tired.
Thanks for the good wishes, everybody.

I would just post a sincere and hearty congratulations with best wishes for you both, but I know how you hate generic threads and posts that just say congrats, or happy Bday, or merry hoho, or whatever, so I'll have to say to heck with you and wish you both eternal marital bliss anyway. So there !

Free to be me! That's what I've discovered in being married. So I wish you and Christina that same freedom. It's a blessed relief to be free to be yourself, especially if it arrives later in life after some of life's *other* experiences.

Mozel Tov!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And anyway, you can only lose your freedom if it is involuntary. Unless there's a shotgun involved, I'd say it wouldn't count as loss of freedom. :D

Hope the nuptials are everything you would want them to be, Joe...if, that is, this rumour is accurate!

Yes Joe, this does put you in a tight spot, what with the birthday thread thing and all.........But if you have been checking, I have really tried to make each birthday thread a bit different, sometimes suggesting they kiss my ass or whatever, just so all the messages are not alike. I have always prefaced these remarks with my reason for doing so, that being my fervent wish to please you and to belay your having a conniption. Therefore, and on that basis, I shall once again step into the breach and again be sure that this is NOT a thread with just the "same old thing" being said over and over.

First, let's talk about your wedding..........Lemmee get this right.....Your sister is going to be your best man?????..............uh-huh..........Well, right there this thread gets pretty bizarre...........I've suggested to others that they get married naked because then everyone would know who the best man really is. Somehow, I don't think your sister is equipped to compete. So who's the Maid of Honor? Max?

Joe, I have learned over the years that when your wife speaks, you need to listen.....and obey. I mention this because Christina is Chiropractor and if she tells you to "Get Bent" she can probably arrange it. Let me also suggest that you get back in practice with those words all married men need to know:
1) You're right.
2) I'm sorry.
Employed correctly, these two phrases will work about 80% of the time, but you need to pay some attention to your listening skills because they can backfire, as in:
SHE: "This dress make my butt look really big."
HE: "Yeah...You're right. I'm sorry."
....Not a good situation to be in especially if throwable objects are at hand.

Remember that communication is the foundation for any relationship and you need to be on the same wavelength and speaking the same language. I know this has already been on your mind as I recall you telling me how Christina said she could do wonders for your coccyx and that you were a bit disappointed with the result...................

I am not going to wish you well because everyone else has said that and a well is simply a water storage device and unless you're very thirsty, it's not much of a wish. What I would wish you is happiness, and if you two are half as happy as Karen and I, you will be thrilled and excited about life and love beyond your wildest dreams (providing the sad remnants of what's left of your hair doesn't fall out).

Spaw

Well, catspaw, I suppose that the maid of honor would have to be Christina's brother, if she has one (bearing in mind that he'll have to organize the bridal shower and all that stuff).

Joe, congratulations to you, best wishes to Christina, and hopes for lifelong happiness for you both!

Sharon

P.S. – Mary in Kentucky, I love your little HTML congratulatory cartoon but, when I opened it, there was an advertisement above it for an on-line shopping service for maternity clothes! ("Shop Now for New Fall Fashions"!!!) Is this an omen???

Sharon, I hate those stupid banners at the free ivillage.com site. That's why I put a lot of space between the banner and what I want folks to see. Maybe I should just put arrows indicating to scroll down until the banner was out of sight...

Spaw, you left out a few important points. He should also learn to say, "Yes, dear." And the bit about answering the question, "Does this make my butt look big?" We all know that the answer is, "NO!" But there can be absolutely no hesitation before that answer. Right answers aren't enough; it's all in the timing.

I'm also hearing a song...to the tune of "Haul Away Joe" It still needs work though.

Mary: Unfortunately, folks would still see the banner ad first. Don't let it worry you too much; I just thought it was a "velly intelesting" coincidence!

Re the answer to the question "does this make my butt look big?": Before uttering the emphatic "NO!", be absolutely certain to look (for a millisecond) at the garment in question. This is an essential part of The Right Answer, since you will avoid the accusation of not noticing her clothing or her figure.

What I can't figure out is: since this is such an important issue, why are some wedding dress designed with a bustle???

Why do women lose their sense of humor if it involves their rear end? One time my wife bought a new blue skirt, and, as she modeled it for me, she asked if it made her look like a Mack truck. The question was so off the wall, I took a chance and replied "Of course not dear, Mack trucks are always red." That cost me.

Susanne (skw), by my handy-dandy time converter, sent to me by Alison in Oz, the time difference between you and California, where Joe will be, is about 9 hours...so 2p Saturday for him, should be about 11p for you. Could be a late night for you.:-)

Not really, Kat - I rarely go to bed til 3 or 4pm, which gives me three hours sleep - unless the cat wakes me up, of course ... I'll remember to think of Joe and Christina all the way through 'Travelling Folk' on Radio Scotland next Saturday. Thanks for helping out!
