Subject: mandolin book From: GUEST,marshman Date: 26 Feb 02 - 08:47 PM Hi all; does anybody know where one can find a copy of Niles Hokkanen's book, "Guide to Mandolin Chords"(and how to use them)? I recall someone on this forum saying they just bought it and thought it was very helpfull. Now my wife wants to buy it and can't find it online. She's tried Lark in the Morning, Amazon, and "something" sheetmusic.com. Any help would be appreciated. mm |
Subject: RE: Help: mandolin book From: JohnInKansas Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:09 PM My copy - quite old, shows: Niles Hokkanen P.O. Box 3585 Winchester, VA 22604 This is also the address given for The Mandocrucian's Digest, and they have (or have had) a variety of "subscriptions, back issues, and instructional materials." I know that there were some audio training tapes available in the past. The chord book appears to be a "self-published" thing, and has never been too popular with retail outlets, although I believe I got mine from "Dusty Strings" in Seattle several years ago. Niles has shown up in occasional articles in a variety of magazines. I believe he had a "teaching column" in a fairly recent SingOut! although I would have to dig back to see if I'm remembering the right source. John |

His Nom de Screen is Mandocrucian, and if you find one of his posts he generally includes his email address. Hope this helps. |
