Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: gnu Date: 27 Feb 02 - 07:01 PM Noreen... "Limited" ? Tis typical of a woman to assume such. "Stereotype" ? Red Rose is but dishwater in comparison. And don't get me staretd on those f***ing elves with their round bags. Resdan ? What the hell is resdan ? baldgnu |
|
Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Feb 02 - 07:02 PM Ha! Noreen, Red Rose Tea and Resdan are among an elite and small list of items that are supposedly "only available in Canada"! Both of them were flogged under that motto for years and years on Canadian TV...the Red Rose Tea ads in particular were quite funny. Resdan is an anti-dandruff product. I've never used it, nor have I spoken to anyone who admits to having used it, but it got a lot of advertising for a few decades there... Red Rose Tea was immortalized in the TV ads as supposedly being "better than any British tea"! This is very funny, because it's the absolute bargain basement, cheapest, most mediocre tea you can possibly buy. Every cheap Canadian restaurant and greasy spoon has Red Rose Tea as its standard tea of choice. It's wretched stuff. Now, I know that Gnu is a red-blooded Canadian lad, so I am quite sure that he has consumed enough Red Rose Tea to float the Titanic (assuming the holes were plugged and the stern reattached), and I'm sure he's at least well aware of the existence of Resdan, even if he hasn't used it. These 2 things alone are enough to confer full manhood and adult sophistication on any Canadian male, eh? Knowing your hockey statistics and Canadian beer brands helps too, eh? Does that clear it up? - LH |

Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 27 Feb 02 - 11:05 PM When you know, that you know that you know. I remarried three and a half years ago, and I knew that I knew that I knew less than 48 hours after the first night we went out together. Some things are once in a life time. I'd also like to offer the opinion that common interests are greatly over-rated (although nice.) Common values are more important.
I just watched A Bronx Tale again tonight, and really had to laugh all over again about the Mobster, Sonny's test to know if it's the real thing. Pick up your woman, and lock both doors of your car before you go to the house. When you come back to the car, unlock her door and as you walk around the back of the car, look in to see if she reaches over to unlock your door. If she doesn't, as Sonny said, "Dump her!" She'll give you nothing but misery. My wife passed the test with flying colors. Guess it works. Jerry |

Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Feb 02 - 02:28 AM Gnu - Now don't take personally what is simply universal Canadian culture. Are we not Canadians? We are, eh? We can't let the Americans think they've got All the idiots, eh? So, like, if ya call yerself a true Canadian you've, like, got to drink Red Rose Tea sometimes, eh? Cos it's, like, only available in Canada, eh? This is when yer not drinkin' coffee or beer... I was, like, defending you, dude... But you CAN'T not know about Resdan! Geez, maybe they didn't run the ads in New Brunswick, but Ontario TV was polluted with them for years and years..."Only Available in Canada" they would repeat proudly. I tried using some on the dog once, just as a test. All his hair fell out the next day, and he started, like, acting very weird. I recommend not using it, except to lubricate infernal combustion engines when they seize up, eh? You can save a bundle on oil, man! I wouldn't let it get around that you didn't know about Resdan, though. That would be like not knowing who Wayne Gretsky is, eh? Impossible! :-) Rent some Don Cherry tapes, and chill out, man! Talk about thread drift... * - LH * (note: the above text is a joke, as are all my previous posts which led up to it. I don't normally take like that.) |

Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: Trevor Date: 28 Feb 02 - 06:09 AM The one thing that worries me is when you've known that it's going somewhere loads of times, and it hasn't. Actually, that's not really true is it, 'cos every relationship gives you something, even if it's just a splitting headache and the experience that tells you that eventually 'you know it IS going somewhere...' will probably turn into 'you know it's going nowhere...' Anybody read 'The Bridge Across Forever', by Richard Bach? Call me romantic old sucker, but I believed it. It was a real bummer to discover that Richard and Leslie split. |

Subject: RE: You know it IS going somewhere when.... From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Feb 02 - 12:30 PM Well, I'm sure Richard and Leslie had a great time before they split, and learned whatever was there to learn. It was a very inspiring book. I remember Buffy Sainte-Marie saying in an interview that she's been married 3 (or 4?) times...and that each marriage had been great for as long as it lasted that way. She obviously had no hard feelings or regrets about the past, and was thoroughly enjoying her present situation, and looking forward to the next adventure. Now, that's what I call wisdom! I wish I was that wise... The ultimate test of love is found within oneself. The beloved for which people search waits patiently inside them. Most just keep looking for it outside themselves. - LH |
