Sorry, not stumped just yet:

LETTER TO JESUS
Mimi Farina/Tom Jans

I'm gonna write another letter to Jesus
And ask him if I can be excused
Last time I wrote a letter to Jesus
You know that he refused
Well, waiting in line is not my style
I've been tapping fingers for quite awhile
Perhaps they've spelled my name wrong
In the great big file

I'm gonna write another letter to Jesus
And ask him if I have to hang around
If I'm good and I add a lot of pleases
Maybe he'll let me ride right out of town
I want to go back where I can begin
To start my life all over again
Perhaps with a second chance
There'll be away to win

I want to go back
Please take me back
Where the wild birds sing me to sleep at night
My bed's as soft as the silk moonlight
The days roll on and roll on in delicious delight

I'm gonna write another letter to Jesus
And I'll mail it just as soon as I am through
I hope the postman sees that he receives it
'Cause all I want to do is start a new
'Cause all I want to do is start over

(Will there be anything else?)--grin

Rasta, I went to Google and first asked for "letter to jesus". Then I scrolled to the bottom and clicked on "Search Within Results" and asked for farina. Lyrics came right up.

Nope, never heard it. Don't listen to much "religious" music. I'm in western US.

its not rerally religious music its just a really cool song with pedal steel and all mimi if ya didintkow was joan baez sister. mimi passed on i believe this past summer in her late or mid 50 poor girl she sang qute well and and fine guitarist--its was kinda a folky country album -they also did a song on the album called (in the quiet morning) a song written for Janis Joplin and thats it for now . thanx again --rastaa
