I know that there are a few Morris dancers/musicians who post on concertina.net in the forum -- maybe try there, too!

Re the LtS post - it was Frankie Howerd in the St Trinian's film - the Great St Trinian's Train Robbery (and I've a feeling Michael Bentine might have been involved too), and I'm pretty sure it was Headington Quarry in Dr Who.

Of course there was also the TV appearance of Herga Morris dancing Queen's Delight in the Easter edition of the Generation Game (c 1978/79), with Larry Grayson and Isla St Clair. I think some Hergaites (though not me) may still have copies.

How about Sword Dancers NOT in a video?
I recall being told a tale by some members of Kirkburton Rapier about a time when they were guests of Goathland Plough Stots (along with another team, possibly Horwich Prize Medal (Northwest Morris)), I can't recall for certain.
Goathland is used for filming of the period police light drama Heartbeat. The Plough Stots and guests were due to dance a short spot just after lunchtime, but the film crew was busy setting up a scene. The director sent one of his lackeys to ask the dancers if they would postpone their spot until the filming was done.
Goathland were adamant that, as it is THEIR village, and they always dance there on that particular tour, they were not going to alter their schedule for some film crew. They also reckoned that if the director wanted to request something it was only polite that he should do so directly, not via subordinates.
The outcome was that eventually the director offered to keep buying the dance teams beer to stay in the pub until the scene was filmed.
Apparently it took most of the afternoon, what with RAF jets and modern cars coming into the shot of 1960's Yorkshire. The dance teams were forced to stay drinking all afternoon, and the bill paid by the film crew.
It would have been much cheaper if the director had let them do their 20 minute display and slipped a tenner in the collection before they moved to the next dance spot!
Quack!
GtD.

Slubbing Billy`s spent a day in Sowerby Bridge being filmed for a bit in that Kay someone`s film Fanny and Elvis a couple of years ago. We got £400 for it but as they say, most ended up on the cutting floor, just a couple of dancers in the pub scene, supping.
I am positive that you didn`t really want to know that though.

There was a St Trinians film which featured the Westminster Morris men (something they've tried to live down ever since), dancing on stage as part of the schools' parents' day festivities. The plot involves the girls breaking up a gang of bank robbers who are lead by Frankie Howerd (It could be Alfie Bass, it's been a while since I've watched them, don't want to give Bratling any ideas worse than those she has already)who evades capture by hiding in the team, disguised as Fool. The film also features one of the best ever train chases.

Sheffield Morris men appear briefly at the beginning of The Full Monty.... and of course, there are the morris dancers in Dr Who 'The Daemons' although this is a serial programme rather than a film.

Hope this is useful.... I knew it would be one day!

Are you in the U.S., or U.K.? Do you want to own one, or would borrowing or renting be sufficient? In the U.S., the Country Dance and Song Society has 12 videos of a variety of teams made by Tony Barrand when he was visiting the England in 1979 (4 Cotswold, 3 Northwest, 1 sword, plus one on clog (not quite Morris, I know)). There are another two: "40 Minutes with the Seven Champions Molly Dancers", filmed by Philip Bone in England between 1985 and 1987, and "Morris Dancing in England 1994", of the Rumworth Morris of Bolton, filmed by Geoff Hughes.

There must be something equivalent available in the U.K. from EFDSS or one of the Morris umbrella groups.

I saw some French films back in college that had to do with the Crusades. Can't remember the title, but one of them involved the Black Madonna.

Does anyone know of any videos which feature Morris Dancing? I saw Wickerman which had a brief dance segment, but there must be other films out there that contain dance segments.
