I missed it on transmission but Andy Kershaw's Radio 3 programme on Saturday repeated a 1999 session by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (as well as playing lots of other good world/folk/roots/country stuff).
Catch it on the BBC website -- look for the 'Launch Radio Player' link. I'm currently sitting at work listening to last night's Mike Harding Folk programme -- aaah, the joys of being your own boss!

Hey BJ....Well spotted...
It was one of my fave AK sessions....
Mind You....there are more good things coming up in 2003. Keep listening!
Regards Ralphie (AK's engineer!)

Talking about Gillian Welch, did anyone see (repeat I believe) the concert using artists on the soundtrack of "Brother Where art thou?" last week on BBC4.
What a night they had - started off with coverage of the Cambridge Folk Festival, then a concert with Matin MacArthy and friends, then followed by a programme of Christy Moore and friends and finally the "Where art thou" concert featuring, of course, the lady herself and Dave Rawlings.
Personally I just can't sit down and watch the box for about 6 hours in a trot so I've missed some of it. I just hope the video has done it's job!
Well done BBC4 but lets have more programmes like these but how about spreading them out a bit more.

Hi Ralphie. As an ex-radio engineer and producer myself I envy you. Sadly my former station, C*p*t*l, doesn't play such interesting music! And Strupag, I look forward to the day when we can have TV on demand as we do now with radio. No more worrying about the video!

And. It never was what it used to be, either.
