Subject: RE: Richard Thompson on BBC4 tonight From: Julie B Date: 11 Mar 03 - 02:08 PM Must nip home to watch this now (or catch the end of it). Sad to hear your tale Hille. I have this trouble all the time - 90% of places the sound is WAY WAY to loud for me...and the music is so horribly distorted it's not worth listening to. I find I physically cannot stay in such places, but many do ... I can only think that most of the population is hard-of-hearing without knowing it! Best sound I've heard in the last year would be that provided at the concerts at the Four Fools Festival in Chorley Lancashire, and also Harvey Andrews. Anyway, off to catch the end of that interview maybe... Julie B |
Subject: RE: Richard Thompson on BBC4 tonight From: okthen Date: 11 Mar 03 - 01:56 PM Saw him last night in Cambridge, we were standing three quarters of the way back and the bass drum sound was physical! was a bit loud but not unbearable, I don't think I could have been near the front tho'. A good night for all that, someone called from the audience for "wheel of death" (not wall of death) so he improvised a wheel of death for a couple of minutes, much to the audiences amusement. This must be at least the 4th time BBC4 have shown this in as many weeks, if he's that popular why doesn't it get an airing on BBC2?Oh well mine is not to reason why, mine is just to watch and pay. Eliza's on friday at 9pm. |

Subject: RE: Richard Thompson on BBC4 tonight From: Nemesis Date: 11 Mar 03 - 12:17 PM Well, if I got the 40 quid back I paid for 2 tickets to see him in Brighton on Sunday, I might be able to afford an aerial :) We were second row back from the on-stage speakers and my ears were about to start bleeding it was so loud .. in fact, it ws so physically traumatising we went home after 3 numbers, before the neuralgia-type pain spread from my ear drum through my sinus cavities any further across my face!! A couple several rows back stayed and their ears were still ringing and buzzing 24 hours later. NOT GOOD!! And I love RT :( |
