Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 05 Apr 03 - 10:35 PM LOL! And, The Bump's Parents have no sense, right? |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Rolfyboy6 Date: 05 Apr 03 - 05:26 PM Congratulations Sorcha. There are two kinds of grandmothers. One says "Oh, you want another song? Have another soda." And the other kind says "If you drink that soda you'll get sugar diabetes!" I know which kind you'll be. Now you can infect a child's mind with music and culture without having to be the one who has the day to day maintenence. |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Genie Date: 05 Apr 03 - 04:24 PM Yeah, burl, that's what my mom says (which always makes me wonder if I should feel insulted). I'm sure you'll find that's true, Sorcha. Congratulations or no, it's your job to ENJOY!. Genie |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 05 Apr 03 - 11:22 AM A happy time awaits you Sorcha. Mrs Burl and I have been grandparents for nearly 20 years and we love it. Remember the old saying, "Grandchildren are so much fun we should have had them first". Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Kim C Date: 04 Apr 03 - 12:33 PM If I could just skip the motherhood thing and go directly to grandmotherhood, I'd do it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Apr 03 - 12:31 PM OK, so runaway to here for the summer-- now you know when you need to get back for the Big Event. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: JennyO Date: 04 Apr 03 - 11:53 AM Congratulations! I'm looking forward to being a first time grandma, too - around the end of June. This is a very special time coming for us. A friend of mine pointed out that I was not going to be one of those always-available grandmas though, and that sometimes when they want me to babysit, I might have to tell them that "Granny's got a gig." Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: PeteBoom Date: 04 Apr 03 - 09:58 AM As one who has been a grandpa for not quite 10 years (and happily sleeping with a granny for the same length of time, spaw) all I can say is "congratulations and good luck." We both agreed its no the kid's fault his parents showed no sense. We just love him, and his six siblings that followed.... (Got a picture of the oldest sleeping in grandpa's arms having been sung to sleep through every pipe tune I could remember, then bugle calls - through the entire camp duty (infantry) and much of the camp duty (cavalry) up to "sabres and spurs"... then he drifted off. He was 4 months at the time, and is nearly 10 years old now.) Have fun! Pete |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Steve Parkes Date: 04 Apr 03 - 07:55 AM Springhopper, maybe you should knit her a cardigan? (British joke, sorry!) I'm at grandparent age, but it looks like I'll have to wait a while. My little bro and my fave sister-in-law are keeping Sue and me well suplied with nephews and neices, which is almost as good. Enjoy 'em! Steve |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 03 Apr 03 - 10:16 PM If you ever want to hear how wonderful being a grandma is...give me a year or two! When a child is born, so are grandmothers. And my favorite...from DaveO I think... What do grandparents and their grandchildren have in common? A common enemy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 03 Apr 03 - 10:00 PM This, at last, is your big chance to be completely irresponsible, and loved unconditionally for it (provided, of course, that son and partner live somewhere else). My gran was the best, and I'm sure you will be, too. |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: SINSULL Date: 03 Apr 03 - 07:34 PM Sorcha, This is the best. You get to feed the baby candy, let her stay up way past bedtime, and then when the whining tantrums start, you pack up your marbles and go home. And babies smell so nice! Be happy! SINS |
