Congratulations Sorcha. There are two kinds of grandmothers. One says "Oh, you want another song? Have another soda." And the other kind says "If you drink that soda you'll get sugar diabetes!" I know which kind you'll be.

Now you can infect a child's mind with music and culture without having to be the one who has the day to day maintenence.

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to being a first time grandma, too - around the end of June. This is a very special time coming for us.

A friend of mine pointed out that I was not going to be one of those always-available grandmas though, and that sometimes when they want me to babysit, I might have to tell them that "Granny's got a gig."

As one who has been a grandpa for not quite 10 years (and happily sleeping with a granny for the same length of time, spaw) all I can say is "congratulations and good luck."

We both agreed its no the kid's fault his parents showed no sense. We just love him, and his six siblings that followed.... (Got a picture of the oldest sleeping in grandpa's arms having been sung to sleep through every pipe tune I could remember, then bugle calls - through the entire camp duty (infantry) and much of the camp duty (cavalry) up to "sabres and spurs"... then he drifted off. He was 4 months at the time, and is nearly 10 years old now.)

I'm at grandparent age, but it looks like I'll have to wait a while. My little bro and my fave sister-in-law are keeping Sue and me well suplied with nephews and neices, which is almost as good. Enjoy 'em!

Looks like I'm gonna be a real gramma around Sept. 1. Son and girlfriend of 6 yrs are preggers. Not actually a welcomed event, but will love the critter anyway! I know I have told several of you about this in Chat, but waited until she was out of the Danger Period before posting it.

Hey, don't congratulate me, I'm not boffing the son's GF!, LOL! A Grand Dog was all I ever wanted........grin.
