I have seen only the track listings. Has she not already recorded Lord Maxwell's Last Good Night. Is this a different version ?
I would love to hear some of this CD, anywhere to hear samples ?

Late Junction on BBC Radio 3 played some tracks off the CD last night including The Battle of Otterburn with Kathryn Tickell (I think ? ) on pipes. Spooky. The presenter said that June Tabor would be doing a live session for Late Junction, probably broadcasting next Tues. I like the idea of June Tabor because she does sing the real stuff, but she always sounds a bit detached from her material. It lacks soul, somehow. She also has done some dodgy jazzy stuff in the past which in my opinion was not at all sucessful in artistic terms. But each to his own. In live performance she has real presence that somehow dosn't quite transfer into her recordings, I feel.

Well, it was Mojo's Folk Album of the month and rightly so. All tracks are stunningly spine-chilling but none more so than 'The Border Widow's Lament' which speaks out across the centuries about the futility of war and its consequent devastation of ordinary people's lives.

What's more, if you buy online from Topic you can get her back catalogue for £5.95 per CD.
