Subject: RE: Lyr Req: stompin tom-around the bay and back .... From: Inükshük Date: 20 Dec 03 - 03:56 PM Jim Dixon is correct. I have an original "Stompin' Tom Connors Folio #1" purchased at one of his performances in the early seventies and duly autographed by Mr. Connors and his band. "Around The Bay And Back Again" is on page four of this little treasure. There are a few minor errors in the lyrics posted above, so if anyone just has to have the entire song, music, chords and lyrics, I would be willing to scan it. Inukshuk |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: stompin tom-around the bay and back .... From: Jim Dixon Date: 20 Dec 03 - 02:41 PM Several websites contain the lyrics posted above. They all seem to be copied-and-pasted from the same source, and they say the title is FERRYMAN FERRYMAN—but there is no mention of a song by that title at the "official" Stompin' Tom Connors website. There is, however, a listing for a song called AROUND THE BAY AND BACK AGAIN. It's on 2 albums: "Stompin' Tom Meets Big Joe Mufferaw" (1970) and "On Tragedy Trail" (1969). That website provides no lyrics or sound samples, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that AROUND THE BAY AND BACK AGAIN is the correct title. |
Subject: Lyr Add: AROUND THE BAY AND BACK AGAIN (T Connors) From: GUEST,Bardford Date: 19 Dec 03 - 01:36 AM I found this at metrolyrics.com. (beware-popups aplenty) I believe the song is called The Ferryman: >From Espanola ta Manitoulina cross the channel I'm bound I heard a story in Tobermory that my baby's in Owen Sound I was close behind her but I couldn't find her so to Meaford I'm away- Down to Collingwood that' s where I stood at the bottom of the Georgian Bay Ferryman Ferryman ! Have you seen my Marianne? In my search for her I've been- around the bay and back again Around the bay and back again... Lick-repeat >From Wasaga ta Penatanguishine north ta Parry Sound There's 30,000's of lakes and Islands and where can she be found >From grit my baby never hit French river and Sudbury they say She took a ferry in Tobermory across the Georgian Bay... Chorus: then-Guitar lick. >From Espanola to Manitoulina cross the channel I'm bound Another story in Tobermory said to try old Hepworth town I was close behind her but I couldn't find her So I guess I'll have to stay-Without my lovely on lonely island In the middle of the Georgian Bay Chorus: Ferry Man-repeat 3 X and end.... |
