As promised (and especially for our Michievious Minnesota Miscreant), for those cold winter times:

Iron Ore Stew

1 pound lean ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped1 can (141/2 oz beef broth
1 8 oz can stewed tomatoes
undrained, cut up

1/2 teaspoon basil
1/4 cup quick cooking barley
4 cups water
3 tablespooons catsup
1 bay leaf
2 small potatoes, cut in cubes

Brown beef, and drain off all the fat. Add the other ingredients and simmer for about 1/2 hour in Crock Pot, start on high, and after an hour, switch to low. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and Tobasco Sauce.

I put it on this morning before work and now I am having it for lunch. I think the potato is redundant with the barley and I skip the toabasco. I'd appreciate any new Crock Pot recipes,   love, harpgirl

And cleverly disguises it as a recipe thread.

But we give her a D, because she can't spell the first word of the name she has given to the guest she is trying to flame.

Better luck next time harpie.

Isn't it just precious the way harpie tries to steal the pseudonym stolen from Gargoyle to prove she can stalk Mudcat members like Lepus Rex, whom we already know she doesn't like, not one little bit?

So, here is a fantasy game for you Mudcat role players: the Big Prick stickin' it to his little gaggle of admiring Mudcat old maids, so they'll keep on jumpin' on his bandwagon (ahem) every time he comes out swinging his sword at the phantom Janet Ryan/Lepus Rex.

MWAHAHAHA!

You all have too much time on your hands. Go outside, and play nice with the other children.

All the above hysterical in-fighting over names/pseudonames and stealing of bastardisations of pseudonames, leads me to believe you really should get out more.

Braised lamb shanks:

Take some lamb shanks and insert some garlic here and there by cutting small slits with a knife and inserting the garlic.
Then brown the shanks in a pan with oil. Then place in crock pot   with some stock or water. Add sliced potatoes and carrots and stew until the veggies are tender. season with thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper. you can also add rice or barley to make a heartier stew.
