I had the feeling it was composed, not traditional. allmusic.com says the song was composed by George Millar and released in 2002.

Seeing that (unfortunately) poor Malcolm isn't around to complain about answering the wrong question, I can retell my story of the time I was in a pub in Athlone (Irish midlands) years ago when a group of inebriated German fishermen started to sing "Rolling home to dear old Hamburg" - in German. One of the locals listened for a second, turned to me and said "They're singing Kevin Barry - in GERMAN! Fair play!".

Malcolm, the one by the Irish Rovers to which I provided a link is called "Rolling Home to Ireland." The other words I posted, by Makem, did not match any of the "Rolling Home" ones in the DT. Thanks for the link to the Irish Rovers' one.

I've already said that the song Skarpi is looking for is NOT a variant of Rolling Home to Dear Old England. Of course the "Irish Rovers" may have recorded one of those as well for all I know, but their Rolling Home to Ireland is a completely different song. I don't make such comments idly, but mainly to avoid people wasting their time and everybody else's by making helpful suggestions which have nothing at all to do with the question asked.

It is easily found via Google. I can't say that I much care for it, but I'm sure that it goes down very well with the "singalong" kind of audience.

It's a different song; a fairly modern one, I take it, written in a sort of Clancey Brothers style. I'm fairly sure I've come across a completely illegal mp3 on some Canadian website quite recently.

Skarppi, I cant make the DT work at the moment, but I'm sure Rolling Home will be in it. It may have the old England version, but just change England to Ireland(or Iceland if you prefer!).
