Faraway Tom was written by Dave Goulder and recorded by him a few years ago (I think on his cassette 'The January Man'). I know it has been sung by a few other people, but if you do find someone else's version, I remember Dave saying that the tendancy is to resolve the last note of the tune, but that's not how it was written. Dave also had a song book available and I think Faraway Tom is in it.

just tried a search for Dave Goulder, found this site. If anyone wanted to make a midi for this song, you can listen to the first few verses with RealPlayer

I dont have much volume these days but I could give you the idea. Gordon Bok recorded this gem. I do it in Am, and the chords I use are:

Am C Am Dm E Am Dm Am F Am Em Am
Change chords on these words:
When Brings Cuckoo summer on thin day running away know far Tom

Dave Goulder's songbook can be ordered online from Timberhead Music, Gordon Bok's label. "Faraway Tom," complete with chords, is in it. The book is $6.50 plus shipping. Go
here
to order.

As Kendall mentioned, Gordon has recorded this song, too. It's on his CD, "In the Kind Land." You can order it
here
Lots of songs well worth hearing on that one!
Best,
Kathy
