Who is Michael Bergin and what is he doing claiming to have an affair with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, JFK Jr's wife? Even if it's true why should anyone want publicize the affair given the inevitable hurt it's going to cause their families? It's not even that this involves the Kennedies. Why should anyone have to go through this?

I guess if he had waited a much longer period before publishing a book (it's been 5 years) about this I wouldn't be so peeved. As it is it's in the poorest possible taste.

I know this is not all that unusual anymore. What's wrong with the world? I really don't need to know every detail of every celebrity's personal life. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman never once called and asked for the details of my divorce. Why should people be so interested in publishing the details of theirs?

While people are busy arguing about the merit (or lack of same) of this story, this guy sells a book or goes on talk shows and gets his 15-minutes of fame. No one is here to sue him, because the interested parties are dead. It's a pretty sorry way to grab attenion, and will hurt people in the process. Without having read anything about him at all, my gut reaction is the say he's a sleezeball. If you really loved someone you don't drag their name into the mud after their death, trying to borrow a few plumes.

I don't pay attention to the gossip I hear about folks like Amos or Bobert or Sorcha, much less to gossip about people I've never even heard of. 'Course, if I wanted to find out about my own life I'd run for political office.

I stumbled onto another bit of an interview with this guy, and before I changed the channel he was wiping his eyes and telling us about her unwanted pregnancy (by him) in the early 1990s. "She just wasn't ready for motherhood," he moaned. If he had loved this woman he wouldn't be trotting out all of this painful, personal, and unprovable stuff now. He's so transparently a gold digger.
