Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: GUEST,SueB Date: 13 Sep 04 - 03:28 AM I was expecting something sexy, and instead it's all bicycles and bricks and dead cats. Bummer. I think this thread should be renamed: Things To Do With Bricks. 1) In the dead of night, build a wall across the bottom of your neighbor's driveway. 2) Learn that martial art where they break stacks of bricks with their hands and feet and foreheads. 3) Build a giant slingshot and sling the bricks right out of your yard. 4) Set them out in a circular labyrinth design. Then have a party with lots of music and beer and when everybody's good and hammered, send them out to walk the labyrinth in the dark. |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: Georgiansilver Date: 13 Sep 04 - 04:38 AM Sir jOhn. I did warn you that if you went to live near the local rubbish tip you would not be happy...It is not your garden, it belongs to the Local Authority..so don't pretend it is yours. Have you not noticed those big trucks coming in to dump stuff?. You'll have to move again to that place near the dock...then you can complain that people are dumping boats in your pond. Best wishes. |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 13 Sep 04 - 09:29 AM Seriously though, John, I've had a thought! I could use those bricks for landfill here - how many have you got there? How much would it cost to post a brick out here to Australia? Would it be cheaper than buying second habd ones locally? Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: GUEST,Stilly River Sage Date: 13 Sep 04 - 09:57 AM What a brick! barber queue . . . barber que . . . barbecue! Be careful what kind of mortar you use if you're going to heat it. Don't want to gas yourself or your food with something that is more decorative than functional. |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: Steve Parkes Date: 13 Sep 04 - 10:05 AM Like SueB, I was a bit disappointed too: I thought it was going to be "other people's gobs". You could try that, jOhn! (Good put-down for a heckler: keep calling him "Coach" till he cracks and asks you why; you'd heard he was having all his teeth out, and seats put in, of course.) |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: Dave the Gnome Date: 13 Sep 04 - 10:22 AM My mate Geoff once bricked up someones front door while they were asleep but he had mortar as well as bricks. And he was barking mad anyway. Decided he wanted to live somewhere quieter than Swinton so he moved to Blackpool... We haven't heard from jOhn since Hull waking up time. Hope he hasn't fell in a hole full of bricks and bikes:-( WHERE ARE YOU JoHN??? Cheers DtG |

Glad to find out the Barbeque is somewhat different. I suspect some turkeys will lose their lives over thie Barber cue |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples g From: GUEST,Jon Date: 13 Sep 04 - 12:17 PM 2 ton of bricks should make you a healthy sized BBQ John. Seriously, don't give up on that idea. We have a simple brick built one in one of the old pig sties. It can be quite pleasant eating out there on a summer evening. I think next year, I might get Pip a present and buy a gas camping stove to go with it. The theory is that we can do the burgers and whatever on the charcoal fueled brick job but rather than Pip going into the kitchen say to boil some spuds (I'd recommend pink fir apple or charlotte BTW - at least they are the ones we grow) as part of a salad mix (and this time of the year, there is no shortage of tomatos, lettuce, herbs, etc outside to pick), it could all be done more easily outside. To drift even further... sorcha sent us some "ranch dressing". Never tried it before but it really goes well with that sort of meal! |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: Big Al Whittle Date: 13 Sep 04 - 05:40 PM I think its a sort of message Look! I have brought you a bike and some bricks. They are a symbol of my love and respect. Now we will be able to take bike rides together and build a relationship that is solid. After all, isn't every action a plea for love.... |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: SINSULL Date: 13 Sep 04 - 07:05 PM My neighbor's son told me a similar tale. He is a 65+ retired college professor but was a hooligan in his youth. Jackson Heights was mostly open fields when a developer decided to put up a school on the old golf course. Duncan (about 8 or 9) conspired with his friends to prevent the outrage. Late at night they built a wall of mortar and bricks across 37th Ave - a four lane street. The unwitting contrator provided all but the labor. No one ever figured out who did it and the school went up anyway but... |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: SINSULL Date: 13 Sep 04 - 07:36 PM I have visions of tomorrow evening's 10 PM News with detectives surrounding jOhn's house and a large backhoe. The reporter will go on and on about missing persons and a strange midnight burial ritual known to have occurred at this address. jOhn will be chomping on apples and throwing the cores in the street while a nosy old biddie of a neighbor tells police about dead cats seen on the premises. |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: LadyJean Date: 15 Sep 04 - 01:19 AM I've just bought a house with a nice little yard, and a giant weed farm next door. I don't think they have poison ivy. I know they have bindweed. I think I'd rather have poison ivy. There isn't much I can do about all those weeds. |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: Gurney Date: 15 Sep 04 - 04:42 AM jOhn, you could leave the bricks in a row outside the hairdresser. (It's my mind, barber queue.) Perhaps the donor of the bike thought you needed a ride..... |

Subject: RE: BS: People putting things in other peoples garden From: GUEST,Jon Date: 15 Sep 04 - 04:53 AM LJ, We don't get poison ivy in the UK but bindweed is a pain. It seems about all you can do is keep uprooting it. We have another weed of a different sort I want to get rid of but it seems impossible - and aquatic one... Blanket weed. It's horrible stuff. |
