Subject: RE: Mudcat Effort to Sponsor SongLinks II track
From: MMario

it is a little sad, isn't it that things like this seem to take such effort?

I was at a charity event the other night - they pointed out that drinks at the bar averaged $3 - and if everyone at the event skipped *ONE* drink and donated that $3 - it would result in over $500 for the charity.

Would it help if a joe-clone changed the title of the thread to something like 'Mudcat effort to Sponsor Song Links Track'?

There is nothing wrong with PMing Max, but Joe seems to be more involved in the day-to-day running of Mudcat sometimes.

Did Carly pick up anything at the Getaway?

Don't think so... (see beardedbruce's post, above)

artbrooks, I like that idea... do you think Max would be willing to do it? I've only been on Mudcat about a year now (which isn't that long, IMO), and am not sure if it would be considered a "legitimate" Mudcat cause. I mean, the Mudcat CDs raise money for Mudcat, but this doesn't...

If I do decide to ask, is the best thing to do to pm Max directly, or Joe Offer, or someone else?

Thanks...

How about a message to Max asking for a top-of-the-page headline like the Mudcat CDs had when they first came out?

$125 to date towards the $550 needed...

Thanks, El G. Adding in checks I'm told will be arriving soon, that takes it to about halfway – to $250-$275(ish)...

We definitely need a few more contributors if we're going to make this fly.

My guess is that there are a lot of US Mudcatters who haven't checked out this thread yet; I also suspect that this thread is not all that likely to attract many more new readers. However, I hesitate to start yet another thread in hopes that a better title might catch the eye of a few more folks. I suppose I should have asked those of you on this thread who were going to be at the Getaway to mention it there, but it's a bit late now. So... any suggestions, anyone?

Even if there were no checks from the Getaway, it was good of you to offer to coordinate – it helps to be able to offer more than one option. Your support is much appreciated...

Reminds me of a previous thread....that became dust ...it soliciting advances on a memoire "The Wyoming Wind."

Sometimes the littel dust devil swirls for nearly an hour...other times it is here and gone...almost before recognition. Where else on the net - is the little-gypsy-brass-ringed- tamoborine being passed?

I sent my $25, it seems a small amount to make a contribution to something as interesting as this project. Later I hope to have an opportunity to buy the cds.
And I have a seriously limited income but I am not poor, just generally cheap.

If anyone has a problem with making a contribution, feel free to not do so...

But I am comfortable sending my money. And enough others on here know me that I can be held accountable for the money that others forward through me.

Bruce – Thanks for all your help!

You can write me a check in US $$. Just so you know, though, what I will probably do is use PayPal myself to then get that money to Martyn & Danni. The thing about converting funds from $ to £ (or vice versa) is that the bank/financial institution involved tends to charge a pretty hefty fee for that privilege, so it's cheaper to do it directly via a credit card.

As for having problems with PayPal, it may be cookie issues, I'll check it out. At this point, though, I'll prolly wait 'til I get the check from Bruce (and add on my $25) before trying to use PayPal again – I'd rather do it all in one swell foop...

George, have a safe trip & a great time (am sure you will)!

George, the page you set up is really nice! Good info & explanation, & looks good too. Looks like you went to a fair bit of trouble – thanks again.

Have tried to donate a few times but am getting some kind of error message/trouble getting through (a problem with PayPal – not with your site)... but will keep trying. (Has anyone else manage dto get through today?)

Artbrooks, I'm feeling optimistic – if everyone who's already posted saying they will donate actually does so, we should be more than halfway there already...

Kat, I know how it goes – hope the book sales do well!

Song Links I is a beautiful double CD, with Uk artists doing traditional songs on one CD, and Aussie artists doing the australian variants on the other. Any CD that Martyn Winging Road (as we call him here) is involved in will be an outstanding collection of songs, beautifully performed. I bought 4 Song Links Cds and gave three away to friends and family - I have no doubt the next one will be just as good, and look forward to buying it when its complete.

I would suggest you make cheques out to BearedBruce, because it's hard to cash US cheques in the UK. Bruce can then make the payment into PayPal.
