O'Neil, Chuck Colson's protege, has made a great living for the past 35 years from the contacts he made trashing Kerry. Kerry must be a great man, to have such an enemy. Its like Holmes and Moriarity or Batman and The Joker.

Now remember, gang, the characterization "he is plenty scary looking" doesn't necessarily sort out who's a real villain. I prefer, "what he's doing is pretty scary."

I suspect the chief motivation of our agent provocateur "guests" is to discourage progressive minded folks from voting at all. It's a pretty simple strategy. You know I'll feel a whole lot better protesting Kerry's actions in the White House for the next 4 years than having to deal with the consequences of Bush getting re-elected.

Yes, Frank, Sinclair -- the company that would not allow any of their stations to air the ABC Nighline episode where Koppel showed the names of the US soldiers killed in Iraq because it was "too political" and inappropriate so close to the election -- is frocing all its stations to cancel prime time programming to air the 90-minute "news" broadcast "Stolen Honor." Michael (?) Powell, head of the FCC, has said he sees no violation of FCC regulations in this.

Sinclair claims that they will allow someone to represent the Kerry campaign the same night after they air "Stolen Honor." (Somehow I doubt that they'll also show "Going Up River.")
They "invited" Kerry to come on the show, but you can imagine what that would be like (aside from the fact that it would take him away from campaigning at a critical time and force him to focus on stuff that happened 33 years ago). It remains to be seen who and what they will allow to be presented as "the other side," but for some inexplicable reason I don't have much confidence in their "fairness."

I really hate to see our local CBS affiliate trashed by its owner Sinclair Broadcasting but that's what's going down in Maine. The latest flip-flop was a major supermarket chain, Hannaford, which pulled its ads and then a day later reinstated them so they wouldn't be accused of playing politics; it's also rumored that they've pulled the red peppers from their display shelves and if the greens were not in majority they'd be pulling them as well.

"Going up River" would make an appropriate response but I'm afraid the damage would already be done to the 10 or so undecided voters in this state. There's no way they would watch TWO such programs back to back. Hell, I doubt if I would unless I were more amply supplied with bourbon.

Back to leafleting the rural end of town, and planting more lawn signs. I've observed that one of the more popular lawn signs has been "BUSH MUST GO!"
