I recently learned that my ex-wife has moved to Crawford, Texas. She says she gets a warm fuzzy every time Bush's helicopter flies over while taking him to and from his ranch.

It's not really anything to rant about, but it is a source of consternation to me that I once thought I had so much in common with the woman and, now, she has devolved into my exact ideological opposite.

But, for what it's worth, both of the children she and I created are very active in the anti-war movement. I'm sure it pisses her off to no end.

Not long after I last posted, I went out in the heat, and a few blocks from my destination, my brakes failed. Not only that, but my car bonnet was jammed and wouldn't open, my mobile battery was flat, and when I finally rang the NRMA from somebody else's phone, I found I was lapsed because they had sent the renewal notice to my old address (despite my telling them the new address when I renewed last year), so I had to pay up with my card on the phone before they would do anything.

They took an hour to come, told me the master cylinder had failed (serious and expensive) and that I would need it towed. Then I had to wait another hour and a half for a tow truck to come. When it finally did, I had to go with them, while they took it to the garage where I usually get my car fixed. It took more than another hour through the heat and peak-hour traffic to get there, $15.40 for extra kilometres, and then I had to get a cab home - another $20. The whole exercise took nearly 5 hours from start to finish, and I arrived home about quarter to 8.

There was my SO, cooking birthday dinner for his daughter, not expecting me (I was supposed to be going to a session tonight), looking grumpy, and before I even had a chance to finish telling him what happened, she arrived, and he disappeared into the kitchen, so I couldn't even rant properly when I got home.

They tell me they should be able to fix it in the morning, so I will have it back in the afternoon, but it's not a cheap fix. And of course there will be another $20 taxi fare to go and pick it up. Bugger bugger bugger!

My car is STILL not fixed, it needs the expensive repair unfortunately (at least $250) - a lot to keep a car I am going to ditch in a few weeks, just so I'll have a car to drive (it's very old and I'll be lucky to get that much selling it for parts). Unfortunately circumstances are such that I can't get another one yet, but I need a car every day.

yes, its hot here in sydney. when i went to the sandwich shop today, they had samples of salad n cheese rolls behind the glass. it was so hot that the cheese on the rolls was melting and sweating, covered with little bubbles of moisture, and had gone crisping hard around the edges, grilling naturally in the heat.

The last remnant of my money at the Royal Bank was moved yesterday. I had closed out my accounts there several years ago and moved the money to the TD Bank because of some business practices the Royal had adopted locally. But I kept a Money Market fund going at the Royal which was set up as an RSP. So I finally decided to moved the RSP over to the TD too, as it was not paying much in the fund the Royal had it in.

The financial officer at the TD told me there would be a 25 dollar charge that the Royal would take off my investment for transferring it over to the TD investment group. But that the TD would reimburse me the 25 dollars. Great!

So I get a bill in the mail telling me the Royal Bank has jacked their transferral fee up to 50 bucks. Scooped it right off the top before they let the money go. They obviously found out about the 25 dollar reimbursment and decided to gouge their (former) customer a little more. Hey, who's stopping them. right? I'm amazed they didn't take more. The financial officer at the TD agreed it was an excessive charge, but what could we do? The maximum reimbursement the TD could provide was 25 dollars. All for hitting a couple of keys on a computer keyboard, a keyboard purchased with profits made from my and your money.

Window envelopes! I hate friggin' window envelopes!

Specifically, I hate companies that send you a window envelope in which to send your remittance. I hate them because you have to make sure that the little remittance cards that they also send you are correctly oriented in the envelopes or the address doesn't show.

I could understand it if they were trying to save a few bucks by using generic envelopes, but they're not. They've gone to the expense of having envelopes printed, so why not just have regular envelopes printed with their addresses on them? After all, it's not like my payment is going to one address and my neighbor's is going someplace else. They're all going to the same friggin' place!

I think it's all just a conspiracy to cause customers to incur late charges. There are four possible ways you can put the remittance card in the envelope, and only one of them is the correct way. If you put it the wrong way, you'll receive the thing back from the post office as undeliverable in about a week. By then, your payment will be past due.

I'm not going to be popular about this one, but it really got me going GRRRRRRR

There was an interview with some guy who had gone over to Norway to help cut down the traditional yearly Norwegian Pine the citizens of Norway give to the citizens of the UK as thanks for their help during WW2.

Ok, the sentiments are nice, granted, but this guy was holding up a piece of the tree which they had given him as a souvenir and saying that it showed the tree was ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY YEARS OLD!

He said this gleefully, and all I could think was, "What's so wonderful about being one of the people responsible for killing this beautiful tree so people can admire it for a month and then toss it???!!"

I just hate the idea that we can't leave these great giants alone. Aren't there enough "tree farms" out there to satisfy the Christmas Tree-Lust of the Ho ho ho'ers in this country??

Sheesh, it annoys me when the others take this piss out of me only because I have a big, fluffy plush rat as a pillow. Ok, so I talk to it. (It still has not answered, though.) I say goodnight to it (btw, it's name is Rattus) and sometimes I even say good morn to it too. I take it with me when I travel (hey, stop eyeing me like that, you moron, we'll be stuck on this bus together driving through the pampas the next 12-20 hours and I'LL be the one who will not get neck pains from falling asleep with my head dangling to all sides), it's been to concerts with me (so what if you've never seen a plush rat attend one of your concerts before, it is after all a lot better looking than some of yer groupies - bugger off and leave us alone if you're not going to give me more alcohol - oh, thanks a lot, champagne is nice) and I've even found pictures of it online, and not on any of my sites, either - so my rat is more famous than you are - bloody intolerant nitwits!

Exams! Why is there so many of the bloody things! All they do is stress me out and half of them don't count towards anything!

Oh, and what is the point in having a 'Parents Evening' in the second year of college! I can understand having one a few months into your first year because college is so much different to school etc. but not in the second year! It makes me feel like i'm at school again. I hated it until I got to university. What a snowing waste of time. If it hadn't been for a quartet of gals I sat in the midst of in Grade 9, I would have left. Then Grade 10, when the option was repeat the year or go to summer school, I had to go to summer school. And a boon it was. Lots of young ladies reaching that stage of physical development that so captures a young man's fancy. Then Grade 11 and dating on of the girls from the Grade 9 class I mentioned eariier. And the guitar and . . . .

Snow school at that age. I failed Grade 11 and that was it for me and snowing high school.
