Subject: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: Barb'ry Date: 16 May 05 - 04:32 AM Four Fools Festival is taking place on the 24th/25th/26th June this year at Lostock Hall Community High School, Preston, Lancashire. This is a fantastic festival; it's really friendly and there's loads to do as well as having a brilliant line-up, including Martin Carthy, Norma Waterson, Peta Webb and Ken Hall, John Conolly, Chris Coe, Bill Whalley and Dave Fletcher, - the list goes on! There are lots of singarounds and workshops, a good campsite and REAL ALE! What more could you possibly want! (And it's in a GREAT part of the country!) It would be lovely to see lots of 'catters there. Barb'ry I'm going to try to create a blue clicky to the site! If I fail, the email is four.fools@tiscali.co.uk http://freespace.virgin.net/four.fools/ |
Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: Barb'ry Date: 16 May 05 - 05:49 AM I forgot to mention the wealth of local talent appearing at the festival, such as Mark Dowding (see posts about the Manchester Ballads cd, which is going to be wonderful) and the dialect singer Sid Calderbank, who are going to be doing a set called the Lancashire Cotton Panic. There's also going to be Harvey Davidson, Scolds Bridle, Derek Gifford, Les Barker..... |

Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: Georgiansilver Date: 21 Jun 05 - 03:33 AM Sorry to be missing it. Will be travelling overland to Romania with Humanitarian aid once more. I know you will enjoy John Connoly....Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher and a great favourite of mine 'Cara'...Those pipes reach deep into my stomach! Dave Oakleys fiddle playing is excellent and with a clever guitarist..what more could you want for some super Celtic style music. A very talented group! Maybe next year eh? My name is Mike Hill....anyone remember me from the Eagle and Child...all those years ago at Garstang? and of course Presaton Folk Club when it was on Church Street...... Hope all goes well and the weather stays good. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: GUEST,Rob Wright Date: 23 Jun 05 - 03:58 AM Now that Anne Taggart has finished her studies the duo Taggart and Wright are on the prowl again looking for bookings. They will be at Four Fools on Saturday touting for business so beware of these bad attitude women. Do not be fooled by their angelic voices their toungues are razor sharp. Go to www.sky-web.net/taggartandwright/ and you will see what I mean. The only way to appease them is to book them for your club or festival applaud loudly when they sing and laugh at their jokes. If not their Roadie was TWICE World Powerlifting Masters Champion. A formidable team! The applause usualy happens naturally! |
Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: GUEST,Rob Wright Date: 23 Jun 05 - 03:59 AM Oh forgot to mention. Buy one of their two CDs that helps as well! |

Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: GUEST,Rob Wright Date: 27 Jun 05 - 04:42 AM Only the Angie Wright half of the act went. Anne Taggart half is still recovering from her last assignment. No, she is not a secret agent, it was her last piece of work for college! Angie only sang one song at the "Birds Eye View" and went down very well. Other than Les Barker the best thing there was a five piece vocal group MULDOON'S PICNIC They were fantastic. Totally blew me away with their singing! So to all festival organisers and clubs out there you better book Muldoon's Picnic now while you can still afford them! |

Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: yrlancslad Date: 27 Jun 05 - 12:54 PM Saw muldoons picnic when they turned up at a singaround one night at, I think, Whitby. They certainly had some impressive harmonies, I'd like to hear them twelve months on. malcolm |
Subject: RE: Four Fools Festival - don't miss it! From: Mark Dowding Date: 29 Jun 05 - 08:22 AM The new venue was great. A few teething troubles maybe - the gym was a bit big for an unamplified friday night concert. I know Angie won't put a PA in for this one and if you sit at the back you can't hear too well. The catering was a last minute replacement because the people who had been booked were unable to come as the guy who ran it was in hospital. I understand that next year, the school are providing the kitchens for the festival's use which are behind the main hall so bar, food and sitting area are all together. The school were very enthusiastic about holding the event and were very helpful in meetings with Ken and Angie. Not sure what the turnout was like - hopefully good enough. Turn up next year - it's going to be even better. Cheers Mark |
