Happy Birthday!

Jimmy Driftwood

was born

6/20/1907    [and 7/17/1917]
(d7/12/1998)

Busy feller; he composed (or collected and re-composed) over 5,000 songs, many of them dealing with some element of America's past and its history. Wrote words to "Battle of New Orleans," "Soldier's Joy" "Tennessee Stud," "Wilderness Trail," etc. He also created a center for the study of folk music at The University of Central Arkansas.
