How about a cartoon 4 x 4 running over a pavement with Tescos in the background

or

a rabbit behind bars with a ciggy in its mouth

Sue

Wee - Shave is a parody about father's failed attempts to get into bathroom to prepare for work done to the tune of In the Jungle.

In the bathroom
The only bathroom
The teenage boy resides

In the bathroom
The only bathroom
The teenage boy resides
etc and so forth ....

Wee and a shave replaces Wimoweh

This is just one example from the TDL playlist of original and revised songs.

Alas my real TDL tee-shirt is nearly worn out.

Is there a market for a set?

The original TDL
Wee-and-a-shave (cartoon of Trevor shaking leg)
Rebel (without bladder control) (cartoon Sue on soggy chair)
Roadkill Cafe (not my favourite but I know others love it)
Let's go to the Ship (picture of derelict ship pub)
Thieves of Peckham Rye (cartoon hoodies, or is that too racist?)

What else should there be?

My wife and I want a set of the WEE - SHAVE tee shirts (OMG what must that read like if you don't know TDL ! )

We two too are devoted fans of these two lovely people and their music. When you think it is all getting a bit serious and pomposity reigns - along come Tone Deaf Leopard and all is right with the world

Trevor Little and Sue Tuckey... are the band members. TDL has to be seen live to be truly appreciated. They created this genre and are probably the only ones with the cajones to carry it off.

Blurb from their website - We have been described variously as 'Avant-gard', 'Strange', 'Folk Terrorists' - and even 'Entertainers!' - But always with a sense of humour!

Information to be found at the FolkMob site http://folkmob.co.uk/

Video link - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qhHYac_xovI

Highly recommended by this reviewer, if only to be able to say afterwards,

"Yeah! I saw 'em, and heard 'em, but I didn't buy the Tshirt."

Very sick? What's wrong? The "invalid" did about half a mile on the flat today. You are not the only person to have been inspired by our little song. Dave Gibb (well worth seeing) has written a hilarious roadkill song for kiddies, reckons we inspired him.

Hi Sue Hope Trev is improving everyday.

Yep I wrote(?) the thing above. Got sick of singing Summertime and had just heard the Road Kill Cafe at some event or other and got inspired.

That's right folks you read right. I was inspired by TDL.

Best wishes to you both.

One very sick VirginiaTam.

Very good.

Here is one that TDL can do

Suppertime
All the dishes were greasy
Fish was reekin'
And the lamb chops were green

Oh you had some chips
Left from the previous evenin'
And the mushiest peas
You've ever seen

Two in the morning
And your gullet is risin'
You crawl on your knees
Down to the latrine

Three in the morning
There's nothin' left inside you
But you're still a clingin'
To the big white tureen

Suppertime
And your stomach's still queasy
Head is a thumpin'
And your face is now green

Oh you betta switch
From the Roadkill Cafe'
And eat some place else
That you've never been

This is a poem written for Trevor by Steve O'Kane

There once was a rather large Leopard,
who said to a very small shepherd;
"I'm partial to Spam,
but I'd rather have Lamb,
not to play with...
but salted and peppered".

The shepherd said "don't be too hasty;
I know that my Lamb's rather tasty,
but it's mostly all fat;
(that's not good for a cat,)
think of what it might do to your waisty"

The leopard, (whose first name was Trevor)
said "Don't you start tryin' to be clever,
I can eat all I wish;
put it there on my dish,
and I'll still be as light as a fevver!"

Well, the Leopard he carried on eating,
(despite the accompanying bleating!)
at the Roadkill Cafe
he was munching all day;
(a belch was his favourite greeting)

He'd roll up a fag with some 'baccy,
it might have been normal... or whacky,
but it all made his blood,
somewhat sticky...(like mud)
.....(...and it's hard to pump blood when it's tacky.)

So one day his heart said "I'm tired.
this isn't the reason I'm hired!"
I don't mind a job
but it's making me sob..
I could rest if the bugger expired!"

So by way of a delicate warning,
the heart had a rest-break next morning;
when the Leopard came to,
he was there in the zoo
in the birthday suit spots he was born in!

The vets say he ought to get better,
but he must heed their words to the letter,
so to help him to sleep, he no longer counts sheep!

but he cheats,
and counts cheeses like Feta!

Ironically, it's lamb for dinner today(fat removed of course)
Sue

Very Funny Raffles. I'd not thought of that, this is a straight blues. Sudden realisation that on Saturday evening he'd started writing a song clled "An accident waiting to happen" First verse - accidental conception, second verse, watching t.v. in the bath, couldn't think of a situation for verse 3.Latest on recovering heart patient. I have just scoured the internet for, and printed the leaflet that he imagined he'd brought home from the hospital. He's busy reading it. He's eating less rubbish and more fruit. Sleeping a bit during the day, but going to bed earlier and getting up by 8 am. He musn't go outside in wet and windy weather, so today he's a couch potato refining his aimlessly mooching about indoors skills. Before I saw the dos and dont's I got him to unscrew a jar of pasta sauce. He mustn't do that. He's watching Coronation Street, we haven't watched soaps for about 3 years. Half an hour of Corrie later and he's looking for something else to do. Time for tea.

Thankyou for all your good wishes. Guest Guest, for God's sake let me know who you are. TDL need more people like you mate, and you've obviously heard Ben. He goes nowhere folkwise without us. Ergo, we'll all be missing for a while. for Ben - more practice time, for us a good rest. Trev looks in disgusting good health - I think he's had a problem for years as his dad suffered 3 heart attacks before dying at 65. Please God that doesn't happen to Trev... keep you posted folks. Time for supper!

They also occasionally comprise various offspring of Trevor's. Oddly, since they are not related to her, they seem to share Sue's sense of timing.

Just a point referring to this unkind message on the thread, one of Trevor's sons has a fantastic sense of timing and can play a mean alternate thumb picking riff that will leave most other folkies standing... Don't know what his name is, but watch out for him...

There is a band here in the US called Hayseed Dixie and they do cover songs of AC/DC and on later albums branched out to Metallica and Motorhead among others. There is a legend that the band has put out about themselves. They claim that they were raised in the Appalachian mountains I can't remember the exact state. They said they were really isolated from modern society and very poor. One day they found a car that had plunged from the road high on a mountain into a valley (or holler as they are reffered to here). The car contained the body and supplies of a record salesman. The salesman had vinyl records that he was trying to sale stashed in the trunk of his car. They took the records and played them on thier victrola record player. Then they took these new songs and learned them on thier instruments and Hayseed Dixie was born. A friend of mine helped with the marketing and he had me cracking up sitting around one night brainstorming. I don't really dig them too much they play up the steroetypes of Appalachians too much for me. They are good musicians and the image thing is kinda funny but there comes a point where it crosses the line from marketing and making fun of stereotypes y'know. I am not some sensitive type that gets my toes treaded on easily but c'mon My family are Appalachian and there is a point where you have to say enough lol.
