Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in France From: Zany Mouse Date: 06 Aug 05 - 08:59 PM Ee-gnaw-mouse congrats to Miss Super Chef. Although she is within sight of the Tower, for goodness sake, DON'T eat at the restaurant in the Tower itself! It will certainly offend her. Rhiannon |

Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in France From: Micca Date: 07 Aug 05 - 05:05 AM Jimmy, Many Congratulations to Carrie, Top 5 eeh!! WOW!!!! I forsee you putting weight on, having a real French trained Pattissier in the family!!! Enjoy the wine (as I know you will) have a Chablis or a Marsannay or even a Gevry-Chambertin for me, I Do not Know what to recommend for Alsace, Foodwise Choucroute (the local Sauerkraut) is good the way they do it there with smoked bacon knuckles cooked in it, there was also some kind of pear tart MMMMMMmmmmm! winewise, who knows, I suppose you Have to try the Gewurztraminer, but it is NOT to everyones taste (its one of the few wines I ever found to drink with STRONGLY spiced food like curry!!!) Bon voyage mate and enjoy, if you decide to come through to London, let me know and we will meet up again I hope!! |

Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in France From: Emma B Date: 07 Aug 05 - 08:28 AM Alsace - try the Pinot Gris (Tokay) - off dry and floral like all Alsace wines but perfect with oily fish the creamy dishes of Alsace, foie gras or even Chinese food! Hugel is my favourite! There is also an Alsace Pinot Noir but it is too "northerly" for my taste! and don't forget the intense flavour of the "late-picked" Foodwise there are some tradional topped thin savoury "pastries/breads" so much nicer than the ubiquitous pizza. Have you allowed for extra weight on your return flight? |

Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in France From: JennyO Date: 07 Aug 05 - 12:04 PM Jimmy, while you are in France, you MUST try this wonderful aperitif (or a pair of teeth, as my brother in Paris jokingly calls it - sorta appropriate for you, eh?) Pineau de Charentes. Absolute nectar of the gods - especially if it's washing down a fresh baguette and cheese! Jenny |

Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in France From: Geoff the Duck Date: 07 Aug 05 - 04:25 PM Just a warning Jimmy. A couple of days back there was a small news item on the radio. It stated that in Bitain the sales of Thongs in the past year had reduced considerably compared with the previous twelve months. Watch your thong designing business because it looks as if the bottom has fallen out of the thong market! ;+) Quack! Geoff. |
