Oh, Santa Sweetie!

I've been awa' and only got back on Friday so missed your message (I left on the 15th). Frabjuous Day!

I shall look forward with great expectoration! (Got a bad chest cold.) Might it be a reed for my old uncle's practice chanter which I just found at the back of the closet??????? It would be greatly appreciated - by me, if not by the neighbours!

And may I take this opportunity to wish you Claus-person, and all the Little Toenails, the very best for 2006. (See - already sucking up for next year!) (Oh - no, for THIS year, I guess!)

When do we start the Secret Santa 2006 thread then?

a most greatful and expectorant sian

Well I really did get it in the mail last week --- before Christmas and despite my early organizing and intent -- well it is a week into winging it's way to you now... It just doesn't quite fit the night before Christmas theme I was hoping for quite so well.... perhaps the night before Imbolc ??? It is really coming ....

Oh Secret Santa Do you exist for me?
I've been good (or at least as good as I could be)
I will try and wait... patiently.

The package that went out was VERY SKIMPY and only part of the gift, enough to hopefully to get something to you in time for the Big Day. Secret Santa business being what it is, Santa got a little behind in his work, and part two will be headed your way within the week, perhaps arriving in time for the end of the 12 days.

Ho Ho and thrice HO!

My returns department were a little concerned at receiving a package from you, at first they thought a mistake had been made with the 'I love Elvis' pyjamas... someone thought it very funny to produce some that said 'I love Elves'...... but now GW is shovelling out the reindeer!!

.. thank you for the parcel, the mince pies were a little squashed, and the shot of 'jim beam' had leaked thru the paper, but it was the thought that counted.
That little joke had them scratching their heads and no mistake!!

Slainte, down the hatch!

well, my secret santa pressie has arrived from the sun-drenched sands of ..Batley   kirklees West Yorkshire eee bah gum lad
--now let's see...
The name Batley is derived from Anglo-Saxon meaning valley or homestead of bats, and is recorded in the Domesday book as 'Bathelie'!
.In Victorian times, Batley was the centre of the "shoddy trade" in which wool rags and clothes were recycled by reweaving them into blankets, carpets, uniforms.

Batley and its neighbour Dewsbury are part of a special E.U. transformation zone!!!!! -what, they are to become part of Lancashire?

Thank you secret S. I will open the wooden crate tomorrow...
perchance a family of scarlet uniformed bats, standing upright??

It's good to hear from you - dont worry about the delay - I know the feeling about things happening late, for myself recently (so apologies one and all from me as well !!!)
Twelfth Night sounds like a fine excuse for celebrating, particularly as    I will be back in full work mode again if not mood and some extra smiles will be doubly welcome.
I shall remain patient and ever hopeful
Many thanks Santa for letting me know you're out there thinking of me

Damn!

Everything takes more time every year it seems and this year I'm running very, very late! What with hitching up the reindeer to plow the gate yard, chopping up the old William and Mary chairs for kindling, and replumbing the hot water tap in the kitchen to spew ale, the merry messengers who will carry a package to you haven't even been rounded up yet. I think they're out carousing at a seasonal celebration in the hay mow or behind the barn.

It WILL happen, Rumanci -- your gifts will arrive in time for Twelfth Night, at least.

It's probably, subconsciously, a part of my personal effort to extend the holidays.

From: GUEST,Jaze's Silent Secret Santa's photo archive

Pictured above: As the final preparations get underway for Santa's Christmas Eve flight to deliver Jaze's present, his photographer visits the Reindeer Stables where the trusty steeds of the North Pole are kept. The posh facilities include a nose-polish manicure center for Rudolph, a ballet studio for Dancer, and anger-management classes for Donder and Blitzen. Here, the photog visits the Comet Cleanser, where he snapped this close-up of the disposal unit containing Comet's droppin...

Okay, that does it. I quit this stupid photo-archiving job!! Sheesh, as if the crotch-shot wasn't bad enough, now they're sending me pictures of poop to write captions for. Well, obviously, Santa and his little North Pole "photog" are too busy fooling around with their camera to actually deliver Jaze's present, so I just went ahead and mailed it myself from down here in the States. If the package arrives by December 24th it'll be a Christmas miracle, but it is on its way.
          -- Santa's former photo archivist

P.S. - By the way, Jaze, I'm not photographic (and whether I'm photogenic is debatable), but I'm definitely artistic. And I really am a former photo archivist. I guess you could say I'm "unusual", too; I was listed as "most mysterious" in my high-school yearbook. But I do not have the baby-blue eyes "pictured above" (or a long white beard, either -- that would be not only unusual but quite impossible).

Well, My Guru Always Said, your present is now paddling its canoe across the ocean, in a flying machine, that is.

Please allow some time for its journey. I had to wait for the weekly flying boat to leave from Fiji.

I just hope the weather stays moderate, but I did double wrap one part of it in case of extremes. If all goes well that little present will make you smile, but if not you may have to remodel it and the effect won't be quite so nice.

Your Secret Santa,
type-cast - not easy typing with a plater cast! :-)

Hmmm.... it is Yule, and no package, yet, from my pome-writing Nicholas Secret Stand-in. Somewhere, deep in this thread, there's a message saying it was posted on the Third of December.

It would have been here, I think, if its point of origin were somewhere in North America.

I have also received notice that the British Royal Mail is in no way involved (but my Secret Stand-in may have been telling a wee fiblet, as part of the game).

Could that mean that my parcel is arriving from the distant, summery, shores of OZ?

(Ever curious, and patient)

Looking forward to receiving these gifts (especially the pink fluffy Dougals of course) that are uniquely Fijiian (or some-such place). Had quite a good short-list on the research on the Antipodean section of Special Santa's, but obviously am quite clueless - just hope that all will become clear in good time!

Many thanks for your efforts Santa, still sending positive thoughts for your healing *note to self - must get into Chat & listen to gossip asap*

It's got such a long long way to go
I'm crossing my fingers it won't go astray
And that it's long long journey won't show
on it's many wrappings and packagings.
At least where you are there is no snow
As snow is extremely damaging
to a very much travelled little present
But given that it's summer where you are
and summer near water is very pleasant
There is no reason for furore
Just Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
relaxed and lovely day
hope the present gives you good cheer
And many more on the way!

Dear Mr Hammond,

I have it upon reliable evidence that you have received one of your parcels. I hope the other arrives in time too!

I fear the postmarks will not have helped you. I am quite crafty like that and have not been guessed "before the event" by a Santee before (that's already a clue!). The second parcel may help geographically from its contents.

Like you I'm a musician and an actor, I also use .73 Dunlop picks, I do not make or wear chainmaille but used to be handy with a sword, I'm very fond of hot sauces and have sampled some of the very hottest in-situ (I need them as it's so b****y cold up here in the North of Finnish Lapland), I thought of sending you some Newtones to wean you off those Martin PB's, Guinness we also have in common although I drink it rather than collect it! I will send you my CD when its eventually finished! What else? I could do something cunningly mathematical with our respective ages but that would probably be too easy a clue. My favourite colour is green.

Well, some of my parts are beginning to drop off with this exposure to the cold so I'll sign off for now...

Sledge!!! (good he's pulling over!)

Your SS up the Arctic

Sticks! I got a stick for Christmas once before. It was all we could afford that year, so we gave each other sticks. Mine was maple and lasted all the way to the middle of April, when I had to send it to the Internal Revenue Service to help pay the family's taxes.

Okay, I made your present, and I'm about to wrap them all up. A bit of this, a bit of that. You may like them and you may not, but I have tried to choose things I think you will like.

Yesterday I found 2 examples of a Fijian version of (sort of) Pratchetty humour - well it's funny with a Twist. I also found something that should make you think of Fiji, or thereabouts. I just hope that this particular present braves the weather and gets to you in 6 discrete and identifiable pieces and not just one big, amorphous mass.

Then there is the uniquely Fijian (or thereabouts) pink, fluffy dougals, of course. And I found a little cuddly, velvety greeting which just made me think of you - I am getting to know more about you, now, by being your SS. I have put everything into a uniquely Fijian (or thereabouts) article which you may find useful.

You may not like what I made for you, but I think you'll at least like the colour. If you look at it and say, "What was my SS thinking?" then feel free to give it to someone who likes it. I won't be offended.

Your relieved Secret Santa - late but not as late as expected.

Dear Lady E., your gift will wing
Across the seas and miles,
From me to you this gift will go
To wrap your face with smiles.

But Lady E., problems arose --
Terrible ones, you bet!
Your present will come, but Lady E.,
I haven't sent it yet.

Dear Lady E., discourage not,
For it's quite ready to go.
But the postman doesn't do pickups,
And I'm bound in with snow.

I hope your gift you will enjoy --
It deals with Time and Seasons
And Life and suchlike things,
And I can't make the scansion work, but "Seasons" rhymes with      "Reasons."

Hi MGAS,

My abject apologies. I planned to make you a present to go with the others and I have had the makings for a couple of weeks but I fell over and hurt my right wrist and forearm (I'm right-handed) and haven't been able to make it. I am hoping to make it today. I think I will be able to do it.

I should have bitten the bullet and sent the first lot of presents and then sent this one when it was finished, but I kept thinking that my wrist/arm would get better and in fact it seems to have gotten worse this week. The Doctor just phoned and said he suspects it may have a small fracture and I have to go for a scan this week.

So, everything WAS under control, but then went totally pear-shaped. I hope to post your parcel early this week but don't panic if it doesn't arrive by Christmas, please.

And I am truly sorry. I hope the wait will be worthwhile and that you like your pink fluffy Fijian dougals when they arrive. :-)

Your abjectly apologetic Secret Santa.

I got the rental car yesterday, and immediately wwent to post your gift. (Hyah! you reindeer, let's see how fast you can deliver it to my patient friend. Onward! Onward!) When you open the box, make sure that you don't miss the smallest part of the gift. It's about three inches long by about half a centimeter wide. If you don't figure it out, I'll explain it after you've unwrapped it. Hohoho, your SS

Santa has been putting out fires at the North Pole (trying to keep the cap from melting!) and is finally on top of the job. Elves were dispatched with your parcel, but alas, all of the reindeer were spoken for and Gluon is over playing in the Mudcat tavern (her delivery skills are untested--the parcel might be incinerated on Mars as soon as arrive on your doorstep).

The best I could do to assure that the third-string elves get it to you was to put in a directional spatula® rudder. They have orders to NOT STOP AT ANY BARS ON THE WAY, but to keep their hands on the rudder, their eyes averted, and just head to that big island to the right of Yerp (when they're traveling south).

If they get a good headwind, they'll be there by Friday or earlier.
