What have I said so far: I am about as far north as you are south, I'm barely 2/3 as far west as you are east. Hint: look at longitude and latitude numbers. A clue you'd like. Or something better? One of your's is me. Just add a letter. Hint: look back at your clues, and it isn't one of the letters you've mentioned so far. Maybe I should just admit it when I see you in MudChat? |

I considered limiting myself to a lump of coal or two, but I decided that your overall marvelousity outweighed your recent deviations from the straight-and-narrow. Besides, I had to wait for Mrs. Claus to finish knitting the socks. So, having searched the wide world over, your SS pressie has now been (more or less) assembled. It should all be boxed up and in the mail in the next day or so, and on its long and tortuous way to New South Wales. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Champagne Carol Date: 22 Nov 05 - 11:44 AM Dear Secret Santa, I'm really sorry to hear that you have flu - must be really miserable, I do hope you feel better soon. In fact the best present I could have is for you to get well, so concentrate on that! Big friendly hug! In terms of stuff I like, anything cuddly (if you've met Cllr you'll see the connection!), favourite colours are the autumnal ones, reds, greens & browns mostly, I love Christmas stuff (I just bought an 8 foot high Xmas tree for us so something to hang on it that would remind me of you year after year would be lovely) and I like most fluffy toys (although they have to look friendly rather than be a particular species). I drink most things, but avoid food that has artificial sweetners in cos they don't agree with me, and I don't often drink French champagne, mostly I prefer Aussie sparkling wines or Spanish cava. I hope this helps, but as I said, the best gift I could have is knowing my Secret Santa is getting well. Love & hugs, Carol PS - I think I've been good, please let me know if I have to try harder for the rest of the year! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: RobbieWilson Date: 21 Nov 05 - 05:14 PM SS009, I puzzle away about who you are so far I have no idea. But I could drink a case of you and still be on my feet. |

Now, to my SS...delighted to hear from you dahling...these times can be so tiresome when one must visit the shops at such busy times, wot? Do have a spot of tea and scone for me, will you? And remember, I am your most grateful recipient....kat:-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Charmions' Charming Cheeky Chappie with Chut Date: 21 Nov 05 - 03:58 AM Well my dear; I was checking you out the other day. Not bad really, but you could do something with your work clothes; maybe a whimsical pin or a little purple streak in your hair? After careful consideration of your working practices and homelife, Santa has decided you have been... ... ... ... ... ... GOOD this year, so something will be winging its way to you somehow, although, the elf is a bit poorly so it may be more like an Easter Bunny gift. CCCCC |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: CapriUni Date: 20 Nov 05 - 10:47 PM Dear Puzzled Santa: Yes, I have been buying pressies for my Santee, and yes I have been writing pomes (one of which can be found here). But also, I have been wrestling with my Secret Santa Sleigh -- as you know, we stand-ins often have to do with the secondhand used models, and mine went into the shop just before Halloween. I just got it back a few days ago. But, most of all, I was foolish enough to sign up for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and have committed myself to writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days (Gods, help me!). Thankfully, I just broke the 40,000 word mark, tonight. (and no, it will not turn out to be readable, but that's not the point) :-) And a note to my Santee (whoever you are: Don't worry, I have not forgotten you! |

Hope all your Christmas plans are trotting along nicely and that you will manage a break on Christmas Day with all the jobs done. Lots of love and hugs xxxxxxxxx |

If, however, you give me your assurance that the package does not contain a large hand-made buffalo milk cheese or a Maine lobster (one can dream!) I promise not to open it before Yuletide. Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Alaska Mike's snowy benefactor Date: 19 Nov 05 - 08:10 PM Ho, Ho, Ho It's the bloke in the red suit again, just to warn you of an impending delivery. I've had to use a couple of seasonal workers, they mean well, but I'm not sure of their aim.. so it would be helpful if you could paint a large cross on your roof, or just flash the house lights on and off for the next few days..... oh , and wear something on your head!!! watch the skies!!! P.S. I have included a few greetings cards that a Mudcat friend of mine would like sent from Alaska to places in Britain (I never go near the place myself since they started charging me for entering 'congestion zones' and clamping the sleigh , always get a helper to do it), it's for something called 'a wheeze' or a 'wind-up', and have included a little something extra for your inconvenience . -well, must fly... got to collect my boots from the menders |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santical Signafication - 2005 From: GUEST,Tig's Mad Tannen- Bomber Date: 19 Nov 05 - 04:31 PM Tig, I can't tell you what WILL be in the box, but I'll tell you what i had to eliminate, for running out of room: Anything to do with Aroma therapy has been eliminated, so Aw-ree-vi- dair-chee Aroma! That's more of a job for Scent-a-Claus anyway, and besides, there'll be plenty of good non-scents still within. The Sea-Dee of nautical music. Since I'm at least one ocean away (Deep-ends off what direction you're coming from, actually), I can't be there to make sure you say "She-Santees sing sea shanties shamefully by the seashore" ten times fast without making a mistake before you're allowed to open it. Besides, I'm told that such harsh measures are specifically prohibited in the Geneva Conventions. "Yes Virginia, there IS a shanty claus!" ....and don't bother typing it out, either! (I know I, for one, could probably SAY it right faster than I could type it right.) I would send you some examples of "local color", but my spy elves Elf-Alpha and his assistants Spanky and Buckwheat tell me you have some dead leaves already. Too bad, as they were very afordable..... They also tell me that you've cancelled your tropical vacation, so you know what THAT means-- "No tanning balm, no tanning balm......" ....and I tramped in search all through the vintage, but I couldn't remember where the wreath of grapes was stored, so maybe you'll have to wait 'til next year on that. All the pffefers slipped their nooses, so there'll be no cookies... All of which means you'll have to gratefully settle on the soon-to-arrive bounteous box of carefully mixed blessings from ..... The Great And Almighty..... CLAUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (cue in spooky music) ....And maybe some Jalapena Purina to feed your firecat! |

I've been doing some hard travelling on the long and winding road of late, but just took off my thirsty boots, booted up and got your happy message. I'm still trying to be good (but when I'm bad, I'm better, as Mae West once said) so as to deserve your kind attentions. Grazie, Merci, Danke, Dhanyavad, Gracias, yada yada yada..... Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 19 Nov 05 - 02:52 PM Yes, we had our first heavy frost this week. I think this weekend I'll pull up a Google map, then put the girls (Cinnamon and Poppy) on their leashes and go for a walk in the woods! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: SharonA Date: 19 Nov 05 - 01:55 PM A little bird rode upon a snail into my snail-mailbox, flew out and landed upon my shoulder, and told me to get on the 'Cat because I have a very distressed Santa pulling out fur there. So here I am, Santa! I'm OK and I'm so sorry to have worried you. You would be quite justified in sending me the coal and corncobs that the bird said I might receive for having been bad -- what could be worse than stressing out Santa?!? Please forgive me; I hang my head in shame and pray for Santabsolution. You see, I have no internet access at home and must use computers at the local public libraries to visit Mudcat. Very often, I find that I can't open the Forum or threads -- in fact, today I can't open every page of this thread, but luckily I can open some of the pages. So, while I have the chance and before I get the "this page cannot be read" message again, I'll answer your questions about my likes and dislikes: First and foremost, I like cats! I like anything that has anything to do with cats! I have a cat! Wish I could have more, but one is all I can afford right now, so please don't send kittens (much as I wish you could). I like T-shirts and sweatshirts. In fact, I've been on a diet and I need clothing in my new size: Large. I like info/postcards/books about the folklore of my Santa's area, especially unusual buildings (ever see the book "Weird US"? Stuff like that). I live near Doylestown PA, where the eccentric Henry Chapman Mercer built what are described as "concrete castles" 100 years ago, so I'm intrigued by similar eccentricities in other towns. I like CD's by singer-songwriters who are humorists! (I am one myself.) Among my favorites are Wisconsin's Lou and Peter Berryman; they have just put out a new CD that I haven't bought yet. Already have all of Dierdre Flint's and Dan Hart's CDs but that might give you an idea of my tastes. Reaching back in time, I love Tom Lehrer's songs but I already have the complete library of his stuff. Also fond of Spike Jones and I have his Christmas CD but no others. If you know of any singer-songwriter-humorists local to your area, I'd love to be introduced to their music! Dislikes include rap, angry-or-morose-singer-songwriter music, and chimpanzees. I have sarcoidosis so I cannot receive anything with a fragrance (like candles, potpourri or cologne). I also have a history of colitis and I have so many diet restrictions that it's best not to send food. I think that covers the main points! I remember that we used to have to fill out a Secret Santa questionnaire, and I did so a couple of times (check my archives), but I forget all the questions. One of them was the Santee's age: I am 49, if that helps. I'll hit the Big Five-O (or it will hit me) next June. But I already have a cane, thanks! Now, let's see if the library will let me send this post... SharonA |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Dave'sWife Date: 19 Nov 05 - 05:40 AM Dear Santa: Joybell is sending me a CD of the Beatnik Prevert Song, so you don't have to go to any great lengths tryingfind a tape of it. Just thought you might like to know. I do still want anything of Alaska Mikes though. Did I mention I like Dahlias? Dahlia Tubers are kinda inexpensive and, if you live in the United States and have some in your yard, now's a great time to dig 'em up and seperate them for spring planting. So, if you DO live in the USA, and if you DO have Dahlia's in you yard, you could send me a tuber or 2 and I'd be a very happy Santee. Actually, if you live in the USA, I'd love any seeds from your garden, especially herbs, mints, wildflowers, sunflowers and Milkweed. Yup, I said Milkweed. MY neighbor ripped out all my milkwood plants 2 years ago and the ppor monarchs have nothing to munch on when they stop over on their way to Mexico. Well, they do have some stuff to eat & but I could really use some Milkweed seeds. it's not the kinda thing you can get at the local OSH store. Oh santa, do you like us to leave you cookies/biscuits on Christmas Eve or do you prefer Cheesecake brownies? |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Shivering Santa to the Sagacious Stilly Date: 18 Nov 05 - 04:23 AM How's the frost going? Do let me know how you get on with the paperclips. We're having our second morning of decent frost here. The wildlife in the garden is preparing for the winter, old Mr Fox has been along for his breakfast. Seems his first choice is chasing squirrels, followed by catfood from his bowl, but he's left the slightly out-of-date raw sausages for later - obviously not impressed, maybe I should cook them? Fairly unbelievable I know, but the other day a Peregrine Falcon landed on my washing line, though I didn't see it myself. Some guests are absolutely certain about it though & we all feel that the 'bird-lawn' is becoming very attractive. With all my previous clues you must be close to rousting me, I reckon a fair few UK Catters have sussed it by now.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Champagne Carole's sickly SS Date: 18 Nov 05 - 12:39 AM Sorry Luv, I'm down with the flu. Seriously. I had wanted to wrap up some stuff and trundle it to the post. no trundling for me for a few days i'm afraid. Every time I sit up for more than 20 minutes my head feels as if it's going to explode. lemsip has been no help. So, Cllr, if Carole won't tell me, maybe you can tell me what she likes to eat. I've crossed off the kangaroo Jerky from my list of prospective pressies. tell me something about customs: How specific ought we be about contents? If it's food, will it get held? if so, I would suppose food stuffs should all be in a separate box, eh? What is Carole's Favorite colour? Does she drink anything besdies Champagne? If she were to get a plush animal toy, what type would she most likely want the most? For example, this SS likes Giraffes, Pandas and wolves. Does she have a favorite animal besides Cllr? That's all for now - must go ice my head. |
