My Grandfather was a dustbowl refugee, my Father used to sing the song when we travelled 'cross country. Being a wee tot, I only got the first lines:

"What did Della wear, boys? What did Della wear? She wore a New Jersey. She wore a New Jersey.

What did Ida hoe, boys? What did Ida hoe?"

And here I supply 'Orey-gon', but that seems too much a stretch.

Hi, Catspaw - I know it's hard for people to figure out the chicanery of searching, but it piqued my curiosity when I started to figure out the number of threads there are on this particular song - hope I didn't offend anybody.
Interestingly, it will be difficult to find this particular thread in a search because the thread title contains quotation marks, and whatever is enclosed in quote marks doesn't show up in (most) searches. Also, the song comes out as Della-ware and other interesting varieties. The most reliable way to search would have been to do a forum search for what did del. Maybe if we keep posting new threads, Dick will put the song into the database.....
Aw, that thread 124756832, wasn't that a corker???
