Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 10 Dec 09 - 08:36 PM Charley, I know what you mean. Had a bandmate going on about his idea for our next album cover (which I'll spare you). I'll have to dig up my copy of the book to show him next reheasal. His idea is certainly a candidate if we let him run with it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Jack Blandiver Date: 10 Dec 09 - 02:15 PM Alas not, Ed - it's the real McCoy. Word is Wor Johnny will pay good money for every copy destroyed. More alarmingly, it seems it was recorded in 1979. Bang on the nail there, Johnny! Anyway, it tops the #1 slot of bad album covers compiled by Media Whores, and it's up against some very stiff competition. Be warned! This is not for the faint hearted... http://www.africans.co.za/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=959 |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Jack Blandiver Date: 10 Dec 09 - 05:09 AM You never miss a chance do you, WAV? Otherwise... At this time of year it just has to be Mario Lanza's Xmas Hymns & Carols album, which exists in various versions, the most common of which seems to be THIS. Generally you can pick up copies of this in your local charity shop in the 50p vinyl bin. Don't let the cover put you off though, for this is a top piece of work - & worth it for the version of We Three Kings alone, which is damn near definitive! |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: GUEST,meself Date: 11 Aug 07 - 02:22 PM Yeah, but - the ones that are SUPPOSED to be bad don't count (I looked it up in the rule book) - not even the ones that are supposed to be hilariously bad in an ironic way, but are just tediously bad in an adolescent way (these tend to feature farm animals). |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 11 Aug 07 - 01:55 PM I know, Steve. My parents had the Herb Alpert original (didn't everyone's?) But it's still pretty unappetizing. Claudia Wheeler... COME ON DOWN! |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: RangerSteve Date: 11 Aug 07 - 01:27 PM Thanks, Cluin. you made my day. But the "Spaghetti Sauce" one is actually a parody, the original being "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" by Herb Alpert. It featured a woman in the same pose, in a mountain of whipped cream, and as a parody, that's not a bad cover. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 11 Aug 07 - 12:58 PM I just wanted to say that the name "Ken" come from an Irish word meaning "head". |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 30 Dec 06 - 11:18 AM It's an alternative vinyl-only (yes, some people still put them out) extended single cover. NOFX (a loudsurferpunkrap combo) is known for its tasteless covers, apparently. like this one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: dianavan Date: 30 Dec 06 - 02:12 AM That is over the top, Cluin. Why the Christmas colours? There is something very Christmas card about it. I think its the dark red and the fluffy, white fleece. Are you sure thats an album cover? Looks more like a comic book cover. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 29 Dec 06 - 11:57 PM Way too much everything on this one. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Scoville Date: 27 Dec 06 - 12:31 PM Barenaked Banjos. I'll testify that that is actually a very fine clawhammer banjo album, but the cover art is a little disturbing. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Elmer Fudd Date: 21 Dec 06 - 08:10 PM I think "The Minstrel Show" cover might be for real for real. The San Francisco Mime Troupe did a very controversial musical by that name during the sixties. The actors were all in black face. It was a very politically incorrect riff on racism, and it rattled a lot of peoples' chains. Elmer |
