Most of the stuff on that site is tasteless garbage, dumb sight gags, gross humor, ugly violence, uglier Japanese Anime cartoons, and crass stupidity...but...there is the odd gem hidden in the haystack. The Lord of the Rings one is the best by far. The chimp one in the bar is also quite good.

I believe that's a hidden extra on the LOTR/FOTR extended DVD. Look for a lone icon on the bottom of the menu and click on that.

I'm serious, Cluin. I have never seen an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Not once. I was aware, of course, that the show existed, but have not seen it.

If you find that hard to believe, you may not be aware that I have basically watched no commercial TV, to all intents and purposes, for the last 20 years. I just don't. There are other things one can do with one's spare time.

Winona Ryder is a movie actress. I do go out to see movies reasonably often, and I rent them sometimes too.

There are things a lot of people do which I don't. For example, I have never ridden on a snowmobile or a jetski. I don't watch TV. I never listen willingly to commercial radio anymore (used to a long time ago), and I have never used Q-tips. I shave with shampoo or soap, not shaving cream. I don't wear a ring or a watch. I never got married. I don't drink coffee. I don't eat pizza. I have never read a book by Danielle Steele or Robert Ludlum.

Given all that, I think it's believable that I have not seen a Buffy the Vampire Slayer show...

MichaelR is right. It is a hidden track on the first LOTR video. BillD if you are afraid of the site get hold of a DVD version of the first installment. Go to the chapter index and page down to the last page of chapters. If you go to the bottom of the page you will see a ring next to the menu listings. It is there in all the pages of the index but on this page the ring will light up. Highlight the ring and the video will start. It is easily one of the funiest things I have seen in a long, long time.

There are similar videos on all of the installments of the trilogy but none are as funny as the first one. In the second movie the video is Gollum having a typical Gollum temper tantrum because the cartoonist who created him got an award and he believed he should get the award. I don't remember the third one.

I have eaten it on occasion in the past, John...primarily because other people insisted on putting it on the table in front of me, and I didn't want to be troublesome. But...I do not consider pizza to be real food. It's not food at all, it's cheap entertainment. I don't eat it by my own choice.

Kind of like, I don't watch Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson films by my own choice. More cheap entertainment.

I only eat my own pizza. It's healthy tasty and the kids are happy to pig it down. I also make my own hamburgers for the same reasons. I have even worked out a recipe for KFC. I'm proud to say that the family prefers mine to the shop-bought stuff.

You're not alone, LH. I do watch television, but I don't seem to stray over to the networks much (except PBS), I stick with the cable channels with uninterrupted films, and some of the specialized programs on history, natural history, and of course, murder mysteries. . .

I never watched Friends or Seinfeld or NYPD Blue or so many of those series that people chat about over the water cooler. I haven't watched Desperate Housewives (I HATE the name of that show, for starters) or any of the popular things on now. I'm a public radio listener, and classical music radio, and my own music (lots of it, especially after Dad died and I ended up with tons of disks and a whole bunch of LPs on top of my own). I don't ride motorcycles or jet skis, I don't walk around with a phone permanently plugged into my ear or have a blueberry or an MPe player or iPod or whatever (yeah, I know, this is getting into Mudcat territory for listening to music). You have to make your choices as to what you're willing to take the time to learn or bother to invest your money in. I am a whiz at the computer stuff, and I have plenty of gadgets around here, but I draw the line at some of these expensive little trifles. I'd rather listen to music throughout the room rather than plug something into my ears and hear nothing else around me.

I haven't checked out the LOTR spoof because BillD didn't come back and tell me what it did to his computer. I'll probably take a look anyway when I get settled in to work later this evening.

Oh--I've had people insist on occasion that I should read this novel or that novel. People I respect but wish they had a little higher standards in their choice of light fiction. I read a Danielle Steel novel once. Gagged on the damned thing. I started reading Ludlum's the Bourne Identity but put it down about half-way through because it was so boring.

Regarding the beer question...no, I don't drink beer. I honestly never did like it much, but I tried drinking it some in the 70's since that was what all my friends were doing. I tried hard to like it....but never really did. I think it tastes pretty bad, frankly.

Anyway, I eventually give it up entirely because I noticed that it left me feeling dull and vaguely ill (and I mean that only 2 or 3 beers would do that...). Who needs it? By the late 80's it would only take 1 beer to do that. I definitely feel worse when I drink beer, even a very small amount of it. I figure it's toxic to my system.

I used to like medium (not dry) wine a lot, like a "2" to a "4" on the sweetness scale, but lately I don't drink any alcohol. It seems not to agree with me anymore. My idea of the ultimate drink now is fresh-squeezed fruit juice from real fresh fruit, and carrot juice rocks! Yep...that's me...always takin' a walk on the wild side... ;-) I wrestle mountain lions with my bare hands. I do dirty dancing with Angelina Jolie when Brad's not around. "Danger" is my middle name...

I am one of the most moderate people I know, Cluin. ;-) But I've always been a nonconformist. I didn't smoke dope (or cigarettes) in the 70's either, and everyone else I knew did, without exception. Plus, I had the longest hair of any guy I knew back then and was nuts about Bob Dylan. Put that together and try and figure it out...

I have always taken a sort of glee in choosing NOT to do what everyone else in my peer group takes for granted...but only because I genuinely didn't want to anyway. I have always been highly suspicious of popular trends.

I LOVED the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Used to read the whole thing through about every three years. I was rather well pleased with the 3 Peter Jackson movies of the saga. They could have been even better, but they also could have been a whole GIANT lot worse!!!!!! (and what a surprise that it didn't happen that way) I call that a good result.

His recent King Kong was very good too, although a bit overdone in places (no need for 3 T-Rex's when one would have done just fine, no need for the "insect pit" scene, no need for an over-the-top, unbelievable brachiosaurus stampede which no one could have survived). He got just a little carried away there. But the human side of the film put the original movie totally into the dust. The ape and Ms Darrow ought to get a shared Oscar for turning in such heartfelt performances.

I agree about Denethor.

Q-tips are little sticks with a sort of oval cotton ball on the ends. People use them to clean wax out of their ears. If you take hot baths they are completely unnecessary, but I knew a woman who used them every day, religiously. She would have lost her mind in Cuba. They don't have any Q-tips there.
