Just wanted to let Judy's other fans know I saw this remarkable artist last night. Her voice is still very beautiful, and she still sings in the same keys! She sang many of the familiar favorites, and you could hear a pin drop when she sang "Who Knows Where The Time Goes". Another standout was Joni Mitchell's "The Song About The Midway". Absolutely stunning! I still can't get over how lovely her voice was. She opened with "Both Sides Now". She sang an acappella version of "How Can I Keep From Singing". Glorious!

She played her 12 string Judy Collins Martin signature guitar and was assisted on piano by a fabulous musician (who also sang a bit of back up.) Judy strummed on all the songs she played (I feel certain she also fingerpicks), but, I now realize if you are a strong singer (lightbulb moment), you don't have to rely on flashy guitar work. Whether singing songs in 3/4 or 4/4 time, her strumming patterns were just fine for the particular songs she sang.

She also played keyboard and piano on some songs (really quality pianist.) I will never forget how beautiful she sounded and what magic flowed from her. The concert was like a pleasant dream! Thank you Miss Judy Collins!

She was interviewed some time ago (it may have been on Celtic Heartbeat, but I'm not sure offhand) and she said she is classically trained, on both piano and voice.

I'd love to hear Judy Collins again! The first (and only) concert I went to was in 1968, I think (although it could have been '67 or '69.) Schlitz put on a series of wonderful FREE concerts in a park on summer evenings in Milwaukee and I got to hear Judy Collins, Flatt and Scruggs, and Muddy Waters -- on the same bill as I remember it, but it could have been over several of the free concerts.

The first LP of hers that I bought was "In My Life" and was totally blown away -- started acquiring everything she recorded. (Also drove my mother crazy loudly singing "Marat/Sade".)

I fell in love with Judy's voice in the 7th grade (1976.) I used to hear Both Sides Now and Send In The Clowns on the radio all the time.
I've seen her in concert, and it is such a special voice.
