On the Mississippi River a group of barges filled with pigeons went aground and the entire tow was stuck fast blocking the river traffic. The Capt. was adept with a bullwhip and he'd crack his whip and get the birds to flying. That lightened the load and they easily backed off the sandbar. Of course, that was a pigeon-tow.
Barges filled withy Tic-Tac candy would be a tic-tac-tow.

Hammers would be a hammer-tow, but they'd need to be removed surgically!

Hey, all you fine folks, thanks so very much! I've not been on line today (until now) and I just located the thread--thanks to Jerry calling to tell me it was here. This is the one birthday that feels like a milestone of some kind----. I never did think, when young and saddled with the Thieme genes, that I'd ever get this far. In his younger days Art bought a small cabin in the Appalachians to spend some "chill out" time in the summers when not on tour. It was near a small village that had a coupla hundred inhabitants where village life revolved around the Store. The cabin was a few hundred yards from the road along a very rough track. The Postal Service
insisted that the mail box had a house name on it as there were no house numbers on that road, well none that would have made sense anyway. Being his whimsical self, Art called his Cabin what it was, a Summer Place . One year he was in the store and a coupla locals he hadn't seen before came in and were looking at him a bit funny, as rural folks usually look at strangers, after he left they asked the storekeeper "who was that guy?" and the storekeepers reply was












" That was Art Thieme from a Summer Place"

Kat, I graduated high school in 1959. I'd just heard Bob Gibson and Lord Buckley and Pete Seeger and the New Lost City Ramblers and Odetta and Joan Baez for the first time. And I'd just learned how truly transporting and time-machine-like the old trad story ballads could be. I was eighteen---and in love. It was a very good year!--- A whole lot like this 65th year will be, I'm certain;---filled with Mudcatters and their music, and all the sounds I've stored in my mind since those other times.

Thanks to all you cyberfolk here who keep my mind nimble and participating in our music world. You are truly appreciated.
