Well, I'd at least require a name to be entered....I don't like conversing with 27 folks all named 'guest'. (I have seen forums where you get a pop-up warning if you try to post with no name)

....but I have 6-7 other wishes too. Hey, maybe I'll log off and enter them under different 'guest' names...*grin*

I'd like to see a way to make immediate changes to the Digital Tradition - a moderated Wikipedia, perhaps. Something that would allow changes to be submitted easily, but not to be included permanently in the Digital Tradition until accepted by an editor.

I'd like to see some slight moderation in the BS section, such that venom, hatred, snide sniping and nounless negativity would just be bounced.

Ain't gonna happen, because it would be labor-intensive, but it's a wish.

I'd also like to see completely pointless and dullwitted threads be disallowed -- I mean things like "Guess What I am Thinking" and twsiting thread names to make meaningless idele fluff. Not _good_ BS. ;>)

Not specifically Mudcat, but just a general wish for more hours in the day so I could get out and 'Cat like I used ta... It's not so bad to wade through the venom when you have time to flip people the mental middle finger, but when you are rushed for time, it seems like a big waste. More time, and lots of it.

Hey, I've had my share of troubles with various GUEST's but, hey, I like and respect the idea of having GUEST's, however...

It's kind tough arguin' with GUEST,X who can come back as GUEST,Y and GUEST,Z all with in 5 minutes that makes it look as if one GUEST is 3 different people...

Then it becomes a numbers game...

GUEST,X says, "Bobert's wrong..."

then GUEST,Y says, "Bobert's wrong..."

then GUEST,Z say, "Bobert's wrong..."

Problem is that if all three of these GUEST's are one person then it looks as if 3 people think "Bobert's wrong" when in fact, only one person thinks "Bobert's wrong"...

This puts the registered and somewhat transparent member at a distinct disadvantage...

Like, can't isp's be used to find where varuios single GUEST's post as mutiple GUEST's to end this???

Definatly the dt. It's had known problems, the biggest of which I've felt for years (that artist's whose work has been "nicked" complete with errors and without attribution and then get's told to wait) is really the hight of arrogance as an attitude (even though I know most would change the situation) and contempt for an artist.

But don't get me wrong, I like the dt, wish it well etc. and hope suggestions I amongs others at least this time round are seen as constructive and for benefit of dt and Mc. Just hope one day, MC will actually do something.

I wish those who post links to video, sound clips, Flash animation etc. would plainly indicate as much by saying something like VIDEO HERE instead of CLICK HERE. That way, those of us with slow dialup connections who don't want to wait fifteen minutes while a ten-second video clip downloads won't waste our time opening the link.

I wish that the name of the starter of a thread appeared with the title of the thread on the opening page. Also, similarly, that the name of the last poster appeared with the thread title on the opening page.

As one whose posts are not often read or responded to, I understand that this would further limit my participation here. But the turnabout would be worth it -- not having to open threads to find out, yet again, that they are started or perpetuated by folks whose opinions I have heard enough of (and already know what they think -- which is very little).

But if I could wish BIG, I'd wish for a simplified, more concise, more comprehensive FAQ, so we don't have to have those little sidebar discussions (on music threads) with newer members about how to do this-or-that on Mudcat. For example, recently katlaughing and I answered Azizi's question about linking to specific Mudcat posts... on the Songs & Rhymes That Mention Snakes thread. Now, granted, we could have told her to go post her question ON the FAQ, but could the next person with that question find it in the FAQ? I didn't even bother to look to see if the answer was in there already, because the FAQ is so cumbersome to deal with.

If wishes were horses, there would be an easy explanation for all this horseshit. However,--

Inasmuch as this forum has sucked all the juice out of rec.music.folk, I wish I could read & write to it the way I can to a newsgroup, that is, I wish it had a tree structure with postings attached to other postings and not just mixed in in chronological (or, in many old threads, random) order.

Also, perhaps even less reasonably, I wish it would support w3m better.
