Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Sniffy's Secret Santa Date: 28 Dec 06 - 04:22 PM I received word from two independant sources that my gift did indeed arrive in the UK by December 15th. However, I have no word from Snuffy as to whether it actually arrived at his own door. Either it hasn't come yet, or it did come, and he didn't like it, and doesn't know how to say so... Either option leaves me a bit nail-bitey. How's the Royal Mail feeling, these days? Should I worry? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Snuffy Date: 28 Dec 06 - 08:08 PM Not a sniff (nor a snuff) of a pressie yet, Santa. I keep checking every day but all I get is disappointment. :-( |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Pseudolus Date: 28 Dec 06 - 10:50 PM If no present arrives it would be the first time. I wouldn't give up on the idea at all. I think it's great and will continue to participate every year! Frank |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: CapriUni Date: 29 Dec 06 - 12:22 AM I never did get a present from the first year. Never found out who my secret santa was either -- whether I'd simply been forgotton, or if my Santa had met some tragic accident. But I got so much joy from giving to my Santee that I signed up to do it again, and again, and again, and ... how many of these have we done, by now? ... And I'll do it again next year. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 29 Dec 06 - 06:13 AM My first pressie took 4 months to travel from Tennassee to Sydney. And it as worth the wait! sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 29 Dec 06 - 07:06 AM I had an almost silent Santa in 2004 - they posted 4 words right near the beginning, and were never heard from again, and as time went by and I heard nothing month after month and into 2005, I eventually got a Super Substitute Secret Santa, Stilly River Sage, who sent me a lovely parcel - I think it was in about April 2005. Although I asked, nobody ever told me who my original Santa was, or what became of them. I don't think the list was published that year either. I still sometimes wonder.... The other years have been really great - this year was particularly special! I'll be in it next year for sure! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Linda Goodman Zebooker Date: 29 Dec 06 - 09:46 AM Listening again to my phone message about the mysterious packages, I now think it was a wrong number, meant for somebody named Nancy. No packages for me turned up at my reception desk on the day after Christmas or since. Not even the annual coffeecake from my tax-preparer! So, I'm wondering if I do have a Santa, and when I will hear or see something. I still believe. Linda |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 29 Dec 06 - 03:52 PM I had so much fun playing games with my Santee, so much pleasure getting her present together too. Also I got to play Helpful Elf. Loved that! My Santa sounds thoughtful and loving - I'm hopeful still. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Snuffy Date: 29 Dec 06 - 07:32 PM You were a superb elf, Joy. Many thanks. My santee never managed to work out who you were. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Sorcha Date: 29 Dec 06 - 07:34 PM So, what happens to a Santee if the Santa is banned??? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 29 Dec 06 - 10:47 PM Hey, maybe my original Santa in 2004 was Martin Gibson? Joybell, you should go into business as a professional elf. You have been a good one - on more than one occasion! Good elf! - Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Snuffy Date: 30 Dec 06 - 08:09 AM Well, the last post of 2006 has been and gone: perhaps next year will bring better luck! I'd say "Roll on Tuesday" except that I have to be back at work then. :-( |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 30 Dec 06 - 08:36 AM Aww Snuffy. And you were such a good Santa to our freda, too :-( Hope there's something for you in the new year to make up for having to go back to work. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: SharonA Date: 30 Dec 06 - 04:43 PM If it's any consolation, y, I have to wait until Wednesday to check my mail again, since Tuesday will be a day of remembrance in the US (for the recently-deceased Gerald Ford) and the Post Office will be closed along with all the other governmental things. I just hope my Santa isn't one of those Mudcatters who's had to go into the hospital for an operation recently... hope the delay is simply due to a postal-system snafu. Wish he/she would give us an update, though. Hey, Santa, you okay out there? Sharon |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Leadfingers Date: 30 Dec 06 - 04:49 PM I have heard nothing from my Santa either , nor , if it comes to that , from my Santee ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 30 Dec 06 - 10:01 PM SharonA, not sure which Mudcatters you are referring to, but MY SS, Chanteyranger, is still in hospital. So that's one you can eliminate from your possibilities. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 31 Dec 06 - 04:22 PM It was a pleasure Snuffy - thanks. And thanks JennyO. This is such a nice support group. I'll have mixed feelings about leaving when my parcel arrives - as it surely will - :-? How do I do a brave face in emoticons? Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 01 Jan 07 - 03:11 AM Aw Joy, you don't have to leave this group - you can hang around and offer support to those left without presents. Having been there and done that one year, I understand how they feel till their pressie arrives - as mine did eventually - a few months later. Not sure how to do a brave face in emoticons though... |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 01 Jan 07 - 07:00 AM \_/ fixed smile plastered on face? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 03 Jan 07 - 05:57 AM But I don't have a present yet. I was just being hopeful. OK that one's pretty good, Sandra. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,bet's secret santa Date: 03 Jan 07 - 06:26 AM well .. I haven't heard from you .. hope that doesn't mean your pressie didn't arrive! I did think I'd sent it in time. Anyway, I hope you had a good Christmas and wish you a happy new year. your santa |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 03 Jan 07 - 06:47 AM \___/ wider fixed smile, the first one looked a bit tentative why are the goooooogle ads for Catholic Music (Catholic Classics & Gregorian Chant in Stock & Ready to Go) and Sheet Music (New Christians Network Meet Aussie Christian, Sign Up!) I wonder who wrote the second one, it doesn't seem to make sense |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennyO Date: 03 Jan 07 - 08:10 AM here's a few more fixed smiles (more or less) Take your pick. ☋ ☺ ⋃ |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: SharonA Date: 03 Jan 07 - 12:17 PM Thanks for the info about Chanteyranger, JennyO. I've read that Bonecruncher and Kendall have also had operations recently, but I don't know if they're Secret Santas this year. Then there's Alba (Jude), whose package was returned to sender and must be sent again, according to this thread... so somebody's pressie is accounted for... Sharon |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Firecat Date: 11 Jan 07 - 09:01 AM Not a peep have I head from my Santa AT ALL!!! And it's now nearly a week since my birthday and still no sign... :-( |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 11 Jan 07 - 02:46 PM So it's me and Firecat and JennieG still hoping. Who else? Just so's it's not so lonely. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Peter Kasin Date: 11 Jan 07 - 03:02 PM I'm glad to be a rescue Santa for someone who didn't get a gift. Maybe give it another week, and if nothing arrives, send me a PM. Chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Snuffy Date: 11 Jan 07 - 07:40 PM My Santa has revealed herself and sent me a lovely cyber-pressie as a consolation, but the 3-D one is still somwhere in the maw of the Royal Mail. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: JennieG Date: 11 Jan 07 - 07:53 PM My Santa has made contact and my present is out there somewhere. Joy - I hope you get something this year! Cheers JennieG |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Joybells SS Date: 12 Jan 07 - 11:19 AM Joy, It has been sent, I PROMISE! Unfortunatly I wasn't able to actually send it before Xmas, but I went to the post office and gave them some money to send it to you when I got home (I even sent it by airmail to ensure prompt delivery)! Unfortunatly we all know what those naughty postal Elves are like, so if it hasn't turned up in the next couple of weeks tell me so I can light a fire under them! Santa (feeling guilty) |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 12 Jan 07 - 05:17 PM Hurray! Happiness! Thank you! Thank you Santa! I knew you sounded like a caring Santa. There was a cloud over Christmas for me anyway. I lost someone very dear to me. The one who gave me the name Joybell. A present after Christmas is just the thing. Please don't feel guilty - It was meant to be. For everything there is a season .... Cheers and hapiness, Joybell. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 12 Jan 07 - 05:20 PM A present for me! A present for me! A present for me! A present for me! A present for me! A present for me! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Snuffy's no-longer secret Santa... Date: 12 Jan 07 - 05:35 PM Oh, dear. That is discouraging. I wonder how much longer I should give it, before trying to send out a duplicate... BTW, there is a tiny bit of local connection, in that consolation pressie, to the area in which I grew up (if not the area I'm living now), which I will reveal in due course. I certainly hope your pressie arrives before the Winter Solstice in the Antipodes... |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: jacqui.c Date: 13 Jan 07 - 09:30 AM Joybell - so sorry to hear of your loss, particularly happening over the holiday. Please accept my condolences. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 13 Jan 07 - 03:06 PM Thank you Jacqui. It was my cousin who had become more like a sister. She had searched for me for over 50 years until she found me about 5 years ago. She'd named me Joybell in her birthday book - way back when I was born. She was 13 then. She was never allowed to meet me - long story. We packed a lot into 5 years. No regrets except that we were hoping for more time. Joybell |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Elmer Fudd Date: 14 Jan 07 - 02:50 AM I'll be a substitute Santa for any U.S. 'catter who missed out this year (sorry--overseas postage is beyond my means right now) in gratitude for the great mudcat support for Chanteyranger during his long haul of need. I've got some cool stuff waiting for a stranded Santee. Just PM. Elmer |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: jacqui.c Date: 14 Jan 07 - 08:59 AM I'll go along with Elmer. I'm off to the UK in a month's time so if there is a presentless Santee over there...... |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Severn Date: 14 Jan 07 - 09:28 AM I will galdly be a Santa to anyone Santaless, as well. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 14 Jan 07 - 04:18 PM What a great idea that is. Me too. I can help out for an Aussie Santee. Of course it won't be very secret - but that's OK. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 15 Jan 07 - 11:15 PM I got my present! Scottish Dance book. Aurora Dance Society. Great! and a tee-shirt with their name on it. And a minty-chocolate orb - not melted - already into that. And a lovely calendar of Scottish scenes. Thank you. Thank you Santa. "...sent it to you when I got home...." + Scottish = ?? Giok? Hmmm. More searching needed here. No clues on the wrapper. Thank you. Thank you. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Joybells santa Date: 16 Jan 07 - 07:11 AM I wrote one of the dances in the book! My mudcat name is nothing like my real name though! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 16 Jan 07 - 04:02 PM So just one dance Santa? And you alone? That narrows it down a bit. Rosemary? Ewen? Back to the clues thread. Look for Scottish dancing. I can't wait to try calling some of the dances. Our little local school has just the right number of children for a set. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Joybells SS Date: 16 Jan 07 - 05:24 PM Glad you like it! I'm a girlie type santa! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 17 Jan 07 - 03:40 PM Ah! Ha! thought so. Wasn't quite sure though. So Rosemary? Must check the credits in the book again. But that doesn't help with your Mudcat name does it? Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: GUEST,Joys Santa Date: 17 Jan 07 - 07:23 PM Rosemary is correct! But who am I? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Tig Date: 18 Jan 07 - 02:16 PM Firecat is still being hopeful..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: SharonA Date: 08 Feb 07 - 04:10 PM O dark despair! Whatever shall I do? It's been five weeks since I have heard from you, O Santa dear, yet still no postman's left A present in my box. My soul, bereft, Waits through the bitter winter nights in vain, Yet with bright hope to hear from you again. Have you, perhaps, seen what may make you shiver: Your gift, once more returning to the giver? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Joybell Date: 08 Feb 07 - 04:26 PM Rosemary! Thank you. Well I'm half right. Back to the search for your mudcat name. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Snuffy Date: 14 Feb 07 - 02:25 PM Don't give up hope. My pressie arrived today! |
Subject: RE: BS: Silent Santa support group From: Leadfingers Date: 14 Feb 07 - 05:26 PM I've given up , so I will just say 200 ! |
