I would certainly prefer that the rumor is true since the Republicans used the gay marriage ban to win 4 fours states on the backs of gay people. For the scandal to be politicaly motivated by the accuser sounds perfectly fair and moral to me.

I think everyone is falling for this story waaay too fast.

It is unfolding with Karl Rovian clockwork precision.

1. Ted Haggert has been in daily communication with the White House for years, most likely with Karl himself.

2. Karl's agenda is to re energize the base after a Foley setback.

3. Ted's agenda is to get more members and be crowned the new king of Evangelicals.

4. Place all the blame of the ugly accusation and rumor on godless liberal liars.

5. Get the accuser to take a Poly graph and release the lie dector test results as proof of Ted Haggerts innocence to intensify the effect on Tuesday's election. ###(By the way the accuser took the afore mentioned polygraph within 12 hours of the release of the rumor.)###

6. Get Ted Haggert to give interiews from his car with a camera pointed through the passenger side window where his wife is in the foreground and explain how he was tempted to try crystal meth but threw it away.

7. Who are you going to believe, a drug dealer or a minister?

8. "Reverend Haggert, how did you meet this drug dealer?"
"He was referred by the hotel for massage therapy."

The only mistake is that I think they pulled the trigger a bit too fast. If I were Rove I would have the polygraph results come out on Sunday rather than Friday.



In the end Ted will have been a martyr redeemed and his faith tested intact. The accuser will be well paid and reviled as the liberal liar and Satan. The Foley mess is thereby fixed, the christian right re energized, and the Diebold election results will show the effect of a backlash against the Democrat dirty trick.

by the way the lie dector test the accuser took and failed (according to Fox)was at a Clear Channel radio staion in Denver Colorado.


It seems wierd that the accuser was ready to take a polygraph before the story was even a day old.

If this is a Rove deception, it is a damned strange one. First off, a polygraph is not proof of anything and it hardly matters since Haggert has already admitted parts of the man's accusations are true--that he bought meth and that he got a massage from a gay man. There's no redemption from that. As far as evangelicals are concerned, that's already too much.

What was he being tempted by meth for in the first place? It's not a forgivable temptation because it's not one any normal person would have. It merely betrays a weak and twisted character. "I was tempted to seek comfort in the arms of another woman than my wife" is one thing but "I was tempted to purchase crystal meth over the phone from unsavory homosexual characters (and let one of them give me a massage) but decided not to use it" is quite another and it smacks too much of "I smoked it but I didn't inhale" and "I did not have sex with that woman" rolled into one.

The way to get the public's mind off Foley and the breakdown of the Republican congressional leadership is not to feed the public more RW moralists with drug, alcohol, and closet homosexual revelations. The better tack would be to smear a dem with it. Apparently, there aren't any. There's also questions about that Kolbe page camping trip. Nothing proven but it doesn't have to be. Just the raising of a question about the nature of this trip is enough.

No, this had nothing to do with Rove or he's losing his touch as well as his mind.
