Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Peace Date: 10 Mar 07 - 12:37 AM Add 'em all up and they don't come close to matching George W Bush for being worst anything. Mom will be seriously pissed that you put him on the list with Shatner. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Peace Date: 10 Mar 07 - 01:00 AM Black Bart was an American. Man, you are one twisted dude. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Peace Date: 10 Mar 07 - 01:13 AM Now, THIS guy could make a list: "Top Ten Worst Canadian Census Questions 10. "How many elderly members of the household did you set adrift on ice floes in the previous year?" 9. "What was your net income in 2005 from selling fake Viagra to Americans?" 8. "How many Tim Hortons can you see from your kitchen window?" 7. "How many American draft-dodgers could your current dwelling accommodate?" 6. "Do you speak French well enough to pick up a prostitute in Montreal?" 5. "What is your occupation? For example: Professional Hockey Player, Mountie, Baby Seal Clubber." 4. "If born in the United States, have you learned to control your murderous impulses?" 3. "How many hours per week do you spend evading polar bears?" 2. "What ever happened to Gordon Lightfoot?" 1. "Do you not agree to keep none of this information from being made publicly unavailable in 92 years?" |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 01:56 AM My nomination is Paul Anka. He's written some of the most dreadful songs in the history of popular music. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 02:40 AM Here's Paul Anka raving away at the unfortunate people who were serving as his band in the early 70's. Judge for yourself: Paul Anka - Worst ego tripper ever? |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: GUEST,meself Date: 10 Mar 07 - 08:20 AM Did he say, at one point, "I slice like a f---n' hammer!"? Also: shouldn't Barbara Amiel be on that list? She makes Lord Black look warm and cuddly. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 09:43 AM Yes, Paul's most spectacularly jerkish statement toward the end of his very lengthy comments was, "I slice like a f*ckin' hammer!" Barbara Amiel is an interesting point. She's very bright, but very dark at the same time. Tough lady. She was perfect to marry Conrad Black. |

"That's just the f*ckin' way it IS!" "I don't get it. I don't get it. Do you understand that?" "What's it gonna be, guys?" "And when I f*ckin' move, I slice like a f*ckin' hammer! Do you understand that?" "I'm the only important one on that stage. Do you understand that?" "I don't get it. I don't get it. I'm the only important one on that stage. Do you understand that?" "That's just the f*cking way it is! Don't make a f*cking maniac out of me!" The same bullying BS phrases over and over and over AGAIN! Boy, it's almost as bad as listening to "Havin' My Baby" all the way through.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Rapparee Date: 10 Mar 07 - 10:11 AM That would probably have brough my Dark Side to the fore and I would have acted upon my Murderous American Impulses. His last words would have been "ACK!" followed by copious vomiting of his own blood. |

She's very bright, but very dark at the same time. Tough lady." Don't tell me you're one of these guys I've read about who find Ms. Amiel some kind of a femme-fatale. Okay, well, to each their own - but I just find her pompous and tedious pain in the ass. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: GUEST,meself Date: 10 Mar 07 - 11:30 AM I must say, I like the thought of some poor sap sitting in that room, on the receiving end of Anka's shit-fit, and surreptitiously recording the whole thing, and then posting it on the 'net for people like us to snigger at. Sweet revenge! |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: pdq Date: 10 Mar 07 - 12:44 PM No matter what you think of Paul Anka as a person or entertainer, he did rave about Steve Goodman and John Prine to the right people, resulting in both getting their first recording contracts. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: pdq Date: 10 Mar 07 - 01:10 PM Start by getting a light-gauge piece of galvanized sheet steel, about 30-36 inches across. Scribe and cut into a circle, then cut from edge to center. Make center hole large enough to fit around pole holding-up bird feeder. Attach to pole and rivet together. Essentially, you are making a funnel-shaped device with large end facing down. I have made smaller ones for rats that worked quite well. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: GUEST,meself Date: 10 Mar 07 - 01:27 PM Yeah, I think that would work on him! Actually, though, I don't think that recording caught Paul at his best. I did see him in a TV interview a year or so ago, in which he diplomatically expressed his distaste for American Idol. So he's not all bad. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Rapparee Date: 10 Mar 07 - 02:08 PM Anybody who dislikes American Idol doesn't deserve to be the object of my Murderous American Impulses. Don't act on 'em, mind you...but a guy can dream. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Big Al Whittle Date: 10 Mar 07 - 02:29 PM I think they're all allright. In fact I fancied being a mountie when I was young, with a boyscout hat and a redcoat and those dinkie little holsters with a flap on it. RCMP on the shoulder. There is a lot to be said for the nation that inspired the Huckleberry Hound story where Huck captures Powerful Pierre. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 02:59 PM Well, "meself", I don't personally find Barbara Amiel attractive (due to her personality) but I think there are many who do. I read her autobiography, "Past Imperfect", and it was a pretty interesting book (she's not stupid), though I disagree radically with her political leanings. She was unquestionably a very good looking woman in her youth...pity about her ruthless social attitudes. There's a Shatner tirade on the net somewhere too, but it can't match Paul Anka's. Shatner is merely a bit difficult at times, but Paul Anka is simply beyond endurance. Those guys in the band should have all yelled "We quit!", jumped on him, stripped him naked, tarred and feathered him, and thrown him in the middle of some public intersection and left him there as a spectacle for the public to gawk at. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Willie-O Date: 10 Mar 07 - 03:23 PM Due process notwithstanding, Robert Pickton? If he gets benefit of presumed innocence, certainly Clifford Olson. Yuck. Disqualifying convicted or accused serial killers, I like Frum for the job. Pompous little feckin blowhard suckhole. (Not necessarily a contradiction) W-O |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: GUEST,meself Date: 10 Mar 07 - 03:27 PM No, I don't think she's stupid at all. In fact, now that I think of it, I remember finding myself reluctantly having to admit she was hitting the nail on the head from time to time when she wrote her column in Maclean's. Never could agree with her conclusions though, that, "alas", the poor would have to be starved or the elderly put on ice floes or the orphans enslaved. No doubt she was good-looking - but I could never see her picture without sensing the pomposity, self-satisfaction, vanity, arrogance, callousness, and ultimately, emptiness behind the smug expression on her face. (I'm not especially fond of her). |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 03:35 PM Yeah, I'm not specially fond of her either. She's a strange one. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: dianavan Date: 10 Mar 07 - 03:45 PM Willie-O - You win the prize. Robert Pickton is absolutely the worst. He may be the worst in North America. Hands down. I'm surprized nobody started a thread about this monster. I notice that you didn't use his common name - Willie. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Rapparee Date: 10 Mar 07 - 04:48 PM I wasn't sure, so I just read up on Pickton. If this man is guilty Canada should seriously consider restoring the noose. Not as revenge, but to insure that he never, ever, again can enter society. If he is, as alleged, the person who did these things he is not a "salvagable" sort, and yes, I'm sitting in judgement. And no, I don't give a flying Tim Horton's donut if he's "found Jesus." |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: robomatic Date: 10 Mar 07 - 05:58 PM Never heard of Amiel or Pickton, but unfortunately have heard and seen Tom Green. I haven't seen anyone worse than that blankety blank, he made Pauly Shore look like an intellectual. It's hard to believe he's Canadian. So I won't. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Peace Date: 10 Mar 07 - 06:15 PM Good lord. I have never heard of Tom Green before. I now know why I haven't missed him. But why does Dickey know who he is? |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Dickey Date: 10 Mar 07 - 09:12 PM I started this thread to be humorous. It has not been well received but Little Hawk has the spirit. The ability to not take one's self to seriously. The only person on the list that I really don't care for is Tom Green. Matt Frewer was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Peterborough, Ontario. Black Bart was a Welshman. I thought he did his pirateing around Newfoundland but aparently I was wrong. David Frum coined the phrase "Axis of Evil" |

I must say LH, Paul Anka was a bit far away from "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" with that obnoxious rant. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Bee Date: 10 Mar 07 - 09:47 PM Both David Frum and Barbara Amiel have been on my "wish they weren't Canadians" radar for many years, and yes, Barbara Frum must have done some rolling in her grave over her son. We've had some unspeakable murderers, as named above. Olsen gets my vote for the hideous manipulations he has done from prison over the location of bodies. Pickton, if guilty, and his brother, who may be as guilty, are just unspeakable. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 07 - 10:53 PM Yeah, Dickey, I spotted the good possibilities for humor in it right from the getgo. Heh! Paul Anka has always struck me as a grandiose, slimy, and singularly crass individual, but I would not accuse him of being untalented. Not in the least. He's quite a skillful songwriter and performer, it's just that his really, really crass values keep seeping into the lyrics and the performance like some vile penetrating oil... ;-) I think he always wanted to be Frank Sinatra. Well, Sinatra always seemed like a creep to me too. Now as for David Frum...oh, my God! The guy is just pathetic. Let's hope he gets his citizenship changed to American ASAP. I wish to point out that Dudley Doright was Canadian, and a real hero...if not terribly bright. The nationality of his archnemesis, Snidely Whiplash, and Dudley's frequently endangered darling, the fair Nell, remain uncertain at this time. The Moose and Squirrel were from Frostbite Falls, Minnesota, and were both deeply loyal to the American flag and all it stands for as they resisted insidious Pottsylvanian socialist plots to destroy freedom, liberty, and mom's apple pie. Bullwinkle, in fact, strikes me as the most classically loyal American patriot of all time, even if he was not too good at pulling a rabbit out of a hat. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Rapparee Date: 12 Mar 07 - 06:00 PM Nell's daddy was Dudley's commanding officer, so she was most likely Canadian. Snidely Whiplash was, obviously, British. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: Little Hawk Date: 12 Mar 07 - 06:21 PM By Jove, I believe you're right, Rapaire. He was a classic British Victorian-era "rotter" and a scoundrel of the worst sort, with a pencil-thin mustache and a cape and top hat. Those types simply cannot be trusted. They lust after innocent virginal maidens and delight in tying them on railroad tracks and automated saw setups in sawmills. Dreadful, simply dreadful! No true Canadian will tolerate someone like that. |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: GUEST,meself Date: 12 Mar 07 - 06:54 PM Certainly we all need to do our part to shield our precious but oh-so-unworldly colonial virgins from the cynical Snidely Whiplashes of this world. The pencil-thin moustache, the cape, the top hat, the smarmy accents - these are the signs of the unscrupulous bounder driven out of the Old Country for his sins, arrived on our fair shores to pursue his career of wickedness at the expense of our tender and unsuspecting sisters and daughters. Canadians - stand on guard! |

Subject: RE: BS: Worst Canadian ever? From: beardedbruce Date: 13 Mar 07 - 07:52 AM How about the designer and/or QC of this Canadian aircraft? Though I will give them credit- nobody gets hurt. "The mishap was the latest in a string of problems with ANA's fleet of Canadian-made Bombardier aircraft, which forced Japan's second-largest airline to issue a formal apology last year. ANA said Tuesday it was grounding its fleet of 13 Bombardiers for inspection and wouldn't resume service until their safety had been confirmed. The Transport Ministry ordered emergency inspections for all 36 Bombardier DHC-8s in use in Japan, citing possible defects with the model's landing gear, according to ministry official Yasuo Ishii. ... In February 2006, another Bombardier plane operated by ANA experienced landing gear problems. That pilot aborted an initial landing attempt after all three sets of wheels failed to deploy. The landing gear was later deployed manually, and none of the 25 passengers and crew was injured. Later that month, two ANA-operated Bombardier airliners made emergency landings at Osaka airport shortly after taking off. One had problems with its heating system, while a warning lamp in the other signaled something was wrong with one of its doors. No one was injured. In 2004, the right wheel of a Bombardier broke off while landing at Kochi airport, also with no injuries." http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/03/13/japan.plane.ap/index.html |
