Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: Eric the Viking Date: 27 Mar 05 - 05:28 PM Well, unless a miracle happens it doesn't look like I will get there this year. I made every one so far-so very sad. I just can't get travel to coincide with my leaving times. Shit !! Merde ! |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: mooman Date: 27 Mar 05 - 02:29 PM Dear Susanne, Before this gets seriously misunderstood and out of hand we had better show you: this (top one) and this (third down) to explain trhe need for an emergency mattress!! (8>) Richard |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: Susanne (skw) Date: 27 Mar 05 - 07:42 AM As I thought Wolfgang had alternative accommodation and Wilfried ordered his floorspace way back then, maybe the mattress is for Wrodo? (Or Frodo, who has just contacted me and seems determined to go, provided he can be back for school on the Monday.) We'll see. |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: mooman Date: 25 Mar 05 - 11:52 AM Susanne, I have a sneaky little map which I'll post up to get you the last 10km or so through the back roads. Otherwise it's pretty easy! Looking forward to seeing you! P.S. I have asked La Bosselle to provide a mattress...just in case! |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: Susanne (skw) Date: 24 Mar 05 - 05:57 PM Richard, please remind me: Have we got directions yet? I mean, the way looks a straight line on the map, but the last few miles might prove less straight ... Andy's list looks good - most of the usual suspects and some unusual ones that I'm looking forward to meeting. I do hope Letty and JeZeBel will make it! And leave Wolfgang alone. With luck, he'll get enough sleep on the drive down to be able to enjoy Friday night with open eyes. |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: John MacKenzie Date: 24 Mar 05 - 08:34 AM Richard re your spelling mistake, you may have been confused between Wolfgang and woolgathering, as the latter is often done with the eyes closed. Giok ¦¬] |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: Fibula Mattock Date: 24 Mar 05 - 08:00 AM I want to be on top of Oaklet please. He's supposed to be sandwiched between me an dthe Viking. The DC thing still hasn't been resolved, but I am severely short of money to travel to DC, and health-wise might prefer not to got to DC also, so I may yet rock up in Niort9 with a sleeping bag and a repetoire of badly-fiddled polkas. |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: mooman Date: 24 Mar 05 - 06:56 AM In the sense that - the Jerram family are readying themselves for the onslaught upon their hospitaility! - I am compiling a list of wine and food needs for possible cheaper local procurement - the proprietoress of "La Bosselle" is eagerly expecting us on Saturday evening for a musical soiree (a meal for all will be possible too) - lists of accomodation have been made available for those who need it - a goodly number have indicated their attendance - Wolgang will attend with closed eyes...better to appreciate the music..! - plans are being hatched for the canal trip one may suppose that we are getting there, the only obstacle seemingly now being Andy's relentless automated countdown! Anyone verging on thinking of coming but not yet decided is cordially invited to make a decision on the matter (hopefully towards the positive!). Peace Richard |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: MudGuard Date: 23 Mar 05 - 07:33 PM 36 days. Doug, you don't say where you arrive in France (Calais, Le Havre, Cherbourg, ...) Rouen is a very nice town (or at least was about 18 years ago). If you come near Calais avoid any baseball bat swinging skin heads ... |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: Doug Chadwick Date: 23 Mar 05 - 06:54 PM Well, I've booked the ferry so I'm definitely coming. I'm going to make a week of it, with a leisurely overnight crossing from Hull, a couple of days to get down to La Garenne, and a couple of days back. Can anyone suggest any places of interest to visit for overnight stops? I don't mind diverting a bit from the straightest route. Doug C |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: JeZeBeL Date: 16 Mar 05 - 05:31 PM Letty, I probably could meet you somewhere convenient along the way...only problem is, I'm now having a few problems...I haven't got my passport back from the passport office yet.....and I'm wondering if it will ever turn up.... I'll keep you all posted. It would be cool to have another young person in the car though....I'm 24!! YEY!! |
Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2005 Countdown From: MudGuard Date: 16 Mar 05 - 02:46 PM Ups, almost didn't see your post, Richard. Your suggestion sounds good. Wine: I prefer red to rose to white. And dry to sweet. Barbecue also sounds good ;-) I guess there will also be a kettle available for tea ... Food: almost anything (but no whelks or other slimy creatures). I do not even mind having a vegetarian meal (if there is a good piece of meat to accompany it ;-)) (the reason I worried about food/drink is that the area looks VERY rural on the map, I fear there are no shops/restaurants/boulangeries within walking distance - as I don't have transport ...) If Patricia needs a kitchen helper for that main meal, I apply for the job. |
