Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Rapparee Date: 23 Oct 06 - 11:48 AM Tell him that the medics from the Idaho Legion stand (more or less) ready to minister to him at a moment's notice (more or less). If THAT doesn't frighten him back into good health ain't nothing will! |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Rapparee Date: 23 Oct 06 - 09:16 AM Tell him I said, "Do't make me come up there!" No, wait, I do want to come up there. I like Alaska. Ah, tell him I said "Don't make me come down there." Doesn't make much sense, though. Oh, heck, just make something up but don't frighten him into remission. He'd have to suck all that output back in and the hospital probably didn't keep it around. |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Megan L Date: 23 Oct 06 - 09:14 AM great news tawmmie Dauvit says if ye want mike to wake up in a hurry just whisper softly in his ear "Darling i was doing a little shopping today iM just wondering where the pram will sit best." Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: vectis Date: 23 Oct 06 - 08:45 AM I'm soooo glad he's starting to come out of it. Healing vibes at full power for Mike. Just think of them as a huge hug on a hot Broadstairs summer day. Give him a smacker (kiss) from me. Mary |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Big Mick Date: 23 Oct 06 - 07:06 AM It's about time, ya big galoot. I was getting worried about you gaining enough layabout time to possibly start a competing firm of layabouts. Tawmmie, don't let him have too many bowel movements until he wakes up. He has developed a reputation for being full of shit. As another of those known for this, I can tell you one must be awake and at full faculative (howzat for a word, Seamus??? Top that!!) capacity in order to maintain just the right amount of shit to keep one's reputation. He doesn't have the full of "piss and vinegar" worry, that is a young man's condition, so feel free to let him pee all he wants. Hug that big sucker for me. Anything you do beyond that, blame on Seamus. All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Liz the Squeak Date: 23 Oct 06 - 07:03 AM So good to hear the news... there's nothing better than that first 'movement'.... and you KNOW we aren't talking Mozart here! Have you tried blowing in his ear? That usually wakes up an acquaintance of mine.... he dozes off at his desk occasionally and a gentle puff in his ear will always get his attention. Mind you...... it used to get the attention of an old boyfriend of mine, in a COMPLETELY different way so maybe that might not be a good idea. Give him a hug and a slobbery kiss from Plaistow and tell him to get his ass over here again soon! LTS |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 23 Oct 06 - 12:16 AM Attaboy Mike! Pissing like a racehorse, eh? And a good dump too! Tawmmie, try pulling his finger instead of squeezing it. It'll make him fart... oh no, this is turning into a 'Spaw thread. I'm really glad to hear the good news, ma'am; take care of yourself and give the big lug a hug and a kiss for me. Use the tongue, and tell him it's from me. That ought to wake him up! ALl my best to you both. Seamus |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: GUEST,Tawmmie Date: 22 Oct 06 - 11:47 PM Just got back from (the) hospital. Mike is trying to wake up. When we say his name he will open his eyes. Still no finger squeezing. He lifts his arms, shrugs his shoulders, moves his legs. They have his ventilater set at only 700 (somethings) and most of his breaths are coming in at 1100 to 1500. That means he doesn't really need the machine anymore but they can't take the tube out till he really wakes up. He was off the kidney dialysis machine tonight. Kidneys AND bowles working great now. There doesn't appear to be any leakage and they will probably take the 4 drainage tubes out tomorrow. Another week in ICU then down to a regular room for a week or two. So, thank you all again for your good vibes. Love you all, Tawmmie |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Don Firth Date: 22 Oct 06 - 04:30 PM I met Mike some time back on one of his trips to Seattle. He was here weighing and/or measuring something, and he took some time out to get together and swap a few songs with some of us (including Bob [Deckman] Nelson and few others) at Bob and Judy's place in Everett as I recall, and then again at Barbara's and my apartment in Seattle. Great voice, great songs! He laid a couple of his CDs on me, bless him! Tawmmie, tell him he's got to get well soon, because we need to swap some more songs at the nearest opportunity. You come, too! Best of thoughts and prayers from the bunch down here. We're pulling for you! Don Firth |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: bet Date: 22 Oct 06 - 01:07 AM Just heard the news Tawmmie and Mike. I've not been checking in as much since I went back to teaching music. Good thoughts are coming your way from the North Pole. Even if they are a little late. Glad to see the up dates looking like things are better. I still hope to get to Anchorage and meet you. Mike was my first touch of a folkster here in Alaska. Both of you take care. bet |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Barry Finn Date: 22 Oct 06 - 12:57 AM This is good news & it sounds like it's gonna keep getting better. Tawmmie, you make sure you take good care of yourself too. It's often that it's easier on us bedridden "Drama Queens" than it is on those that keep us going, many who don't even realize that they've been drained until they fall down with exhaustion. You'll need the vacation after he's better. Tell him I called him a "Drama Queen" too. That'll get his blood count & white cells up there. Better wait till he's feeling a bit better though & you might as well tell 'em when he's awake. No sense wasting a good ribbing on him if it's not gonna get him percolating. Best of Luck Barry |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: Stilly River Sage Date: 22 Oct 06 - 12:51 AM Where do you work? Perhaps there is a pool that people can donate sick leave to? We have one at the university where I work, and I was able to get a few hours from there when I had a lengthy absense after surgery a few years ago. Our sick leave works for the employee or when we have to care for an immediate family member (I took my sick leave most of this week to stay with my daughter who was in the hospital). It might be worth checking out. SRS |
Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: GUEST,Tawmmie Date: 22 Oct 06 - 12:34 AM Mike's nurse, John, tried to wake him up tonight. I rubbed his feet which he hates, anything to irritate him. Actually, John said to try anything till he wakes up then go to the soothe mode. Well, he didn't want to wake yet so he will try again later. Good news, his kidneys are putting out gallens of urine. Yea!!!! |

Subject: RE: Alaska Mike needs good thoughts From: GUEST,Tawmmie Date: 21 Oct 06 - 06:52 PM Hi everyone, Thank you all soooo much for all your good thoughts. I just got back from the hospital, (or as some of you say - from hospital) Mike had a good night. They're keeping him on dialysis cause it's just doing such a good job cleaning out his blood. They took him off the sedation medication yesterday morning and he doesn't want to wake up yet. Not to worry. John, his RN said they want to check his cognitive responses and then they they will put him back to sleep a few days longer. They need to make sure he can breathe completely on his own before they take him off the respirator. His skin is much better today, a bit more elasticity, not quite so turgid. I've just about lost my voice but i just need to make sure I'm drinking my water. My daughter Tina and her husband left to go home to Arizona last night. Tracy and Gayatri have to leave tonight back to Chicago. Mike's brother and sister leave Mon night back to Arizona and my son, Alex with wife and daughter have to leave Tuesday evening, Michigan. I think I'll go back to work Wed. I've used up a lot of leave that I was saving for our vacation. Oh well, I'll just have to use LWOP, I don't care. Mike WILL be with me end of Jan for the cruise, right, Seamus? Again thank you all so much. I'll try to keep you posted. Love to you all. Tawmmie |
