Or rather, non-bloomin' Nevada; if it were bloomin', it wouldn't be so bad. Still, it does sound fun, and Kat tells me there are wineries. Mmmmmm. Sadly, I can't imagine my menfolk letting me go off on such an adventure without them. Or at least, I can't imagine my 8-year-old manfolk letting me go off an have fun without him, even though my other manfolk would probably be willing to stay home. And three people in a Mini for a road trip can be a bit cramped. Hmmm. I think this dream plan may require a few refinements... C |

I crossed Nevada (from Wells on west, anyway) via Interstate 80 a couple of years ago when returning from The Great Montana Mini Road Trip of 2006, and I have to say it was really dreary, except for the eyesores -- oh sorry, those would be cities (Sorry, not a neon fan -- or a gambling fan, either). Perhaps 50 is less monotonous? But surely not much shorter... |

From: Micca Date: 05 Mar 09 - 02:08 PM Claire, I did the "California Zephyr" train trip from Denver to Grand Junction last time, I could be persuaded to fly to San Francisco(never been there) and do that Western leg by train, through Nevada, Utah and CO, sounds like an interesting trip. Maybe Then i could go on to Denver and on to Albuqurque to visit Art and Jen (I have been invited!!!) and maybe try and see the Grand Canyon too (I have an ex-wife in Phoenix!) sounds like an exciting and interesting trip!! I will get the Atlas out later and look at the distances!! I would understand if you cant come along, but western Colorado and meeting katlaughing is a real nice experience!! and YES!! there are some VERY NIE wineries in WCO I visited a few( purely out of a sense of duty to my friends, you understand) and had a lovely time. |
