She sells real fresh lemonade. And very nice it is too.

Pray tell, what is the Upton upon Severn Festival??.Is it music? and when is it on?. I may be in Gloucestershire in the next few months and it sounds like a nice place to go.

When I was back "home" this past Christmas, the images from Upton on the news where something else. As one reporter put it, Upton UNDER Severn, would seem more accurate (at that time anyway).

mop and bucket not needed
2 ceilidhs and plenty of concerts, cosy or marqueed. Not a big slick festival but well run and yet laid back

GUEST,Rana - is that Greenfidle Morris of Toronto? I met a few of the team in 1986 Pumkin Pat And Louise Love - but things move on I guess. They always do a stick dance - probably any # of times, there are a lot of Morris sides. No they won't make a big splash! Do Greenfiddle still do the umbrella dance?

'Tis Greenfiddle of Toronto. Different from now in '86 (I joined in '89). I know Pumpkin, but she's no longer with the team - can't place the Louise - can ask. Obviously we don't do the umbrella dance 'cos I haven't seen it - but the splinter groups may do it.

Festival Dates are Friday 4th to Monday 7th May inclusive. Starts Friday evening at about 7pm, finishes at approx 5pm Monday (bank holiday).

To everybody out there who has never heard of me, a BIG hello, to all who know me see you soon. I am well known for working at this festival and can assure everybody that the Upton-Upon-Severn Folk Festival is on. I was at the 3rd Saturday Folk Club in the Kings Head Upton (by the river) last Saturday (21-04-01). Roger Davies (Festival Chairman) is a good friend and he assured me the weekend is on and that their will be work for me to do again. The Campsite does dry out very quickly and with a good weeks weather can be quite firm. Spin off from the foot & mouth disaster, a number of festivals are not running, therefore at least 40 Morris sides to dance off in the prossesion (12pm Sunday), many more sides to pass through during the weekend. Good pubs to sing in are Upton Muggery, Swan (next river) and Anchor. There are no organised sessions this year (again) but I will still try to keep something going somwhere. Hopefully next year will be different. There should be a late session for festival ticket holders only if we use the usual campsite, weather permitting. This will be held in the Rugby Club. I am told that we have a late drinks licence (1am) for the club house but that still needs confirming. Remeber HOT and cold showers are also available in the club house. Just asked some people about Louise and they immediately recognised her. Apparently she quit ca. 1986 just after the BIG split resulting in Toronto Morris Men (and others) in TO.
