Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: NicoleC Date: 22 Oct 03 - 12:56 AM I will consider a second printing on the following condition: I have a MINIMUM of *10* paid for orders. At that quantity, it'll be a wash Mudcat-wise, but I won't be losing money either. Several of you have PM'd me -- if you are serious let me know by next Monday and I'll take a head count. To meet Xmas deadlines, I'll ship direct if you want. Overseas shipping in time for Xmas will be dicey, though... |

(I wonder though, whether we should've all put what country we are from, coz of the differences between some measurements in the British and American IMPERIAL systems???) Ok, now how's LtS's DESSERTS book going??!! (sorry, Liz!) Cheers! R-J |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: NicoleC Date: 27 Oct 03 - 09:24 PM Well, it's Monday and I have no orders for a 2nd printing, so that settles that. :) Richenda, I mailed yours in JULY and you are just now getting it?! |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: JennyO Date: 28 Oct 03 - 09:09 AM Yes, I've been wondering too. Still haven't got mine yet. I guess mine and Alison's will probably arrive about the same time, seeing as we're both in Sydney. Jenny |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: rich-joy Date: 29 Oct 03 - 03:31 AM I find it hard to believe that Country Quoinsland has a faster Postal Service than Suburban Sydney and Districts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (... it'll be worth the wait) Cheers! R-J |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: alison Date: 29 Oct 03 - 11:34 PM WOOHOO!!!!!... mine arrived today... and it looks wonderful... great job Nicole.... thanks slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: NicoleC Date: 29 Oct 03 - 11:46 PM I'm starting to take that cliche of the "slow boat" seriously. My ancestors made it across the Atlantic in a leaky tub in the 1600's faster than that service! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: rich-joy Date: 30 Oct 03 - 05:13 AM Yeah, my great grandfather came out to West Aussie as a convict, from dear old England, and it only took his sailing ship (the Corona), a mere 67 days - in 1866 !!! At least a month LESS than the US postal service in 2003, would you say, Nicole???!!! But, it's great to have it, however long it took! Cheers! R-J |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: alison Date: 30 Oct 03 - 06:17 PM the book is great.... love the tunes among the recipes..... I can see a whole new batch of threads opening "What the hell is .......(insert name of US ingredient)?" *grin* slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: JennyO Date: 05 Nov 03 - 12:49 AM Yay, my cookbook arrived today! Congratulations, Nicole. It looks really interesting. Now where to start? Maybe I'll start with the Guinness cake, with the 6 bottles of Guinness. When I glanced at Treacle Farls, I thought it said Farts, and wot's a quahog, MMario? So many recipes and so little time......(sigh) |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: Sorcha Date: 26 Sep 04 - 05:26 PM Is it time for a re print, or a Vol II? Please???? |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: Sorcha Date: 26 Sep 04 - 06:08 PM I think so. There are loads of recipes here (and on the Annexe) that were not included. Somebody step up, please? I don't know how to do it or have the binder equipment. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: open mike Date: 27 Sep 04 - 09:25 AM if we do a vol. ll, i suggest it have a cover with an illustration on it..such as Sorcha's mud cat quilt, which i printed out and pasted on. got a link Sorcha? I forget where i found it, but it is a beaut! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Cookbooks: They're Here! From: sian, west wales Date: 27 Sep 04 - 05:19 PM Thanks for reminding me of last night's chatroom promise to art, sorcha! Lotvarrick Pie (Apple Butter Pie) Pastry for a 9 inch pie. 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup apple butter 2 eggs, beaten 4 tablespoons flour 1/4 tsp cream of tartar 1/4 tsp soda 2 cups milk 1/4 tsp nutmeg Mix the sugar, flour, soda and cream of tartar; blend in the melted butter, add the beaten eggs, apple butter, then the milk. Pour into the pie shell and sprinkle with the nutmeg. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes, then at 350 degrees till the custard is set. This from Edna Staebler's Canadian classic cookbook, "Food that Really Schmecks: Mennonite Country Cooking". I do believe my mum told me that ol' Edna has just celebrated her 98th birthday. Rather gives the lie to all those health cautions about what food is good for you and what food ain't. Food that Really Schmecks is a testament to high fat cookery! Rock On! And happy apple gathering, art. siân |
