Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: olddude Date: 18 Mar 11 - 06:58 PM Looks like the surgeon wants to go with the lumpectomy and radiation. They won't know if the lymph glands are affected yet but she (the doc) thinks it was caught early enough from what she can see. Right now she is calling it stage 1 barring any lymph involvement, Looking and hoping that she is 100% correct and it is fixable. So far from what I am hearing it is the case. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: olddude Date: 22 Mar 11 - 07:58 PM Not what I had hoped to hear, it is fixable but now it will be the chemo and the surgery and all the rest of the stuff ... Docs said it will be ok, just in for a bumpy ride for sure. She holds up like a rock, I am the one that has to step outside to lose it ... |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Mar 11 - 12:02 AM One step at a time, Dan. Look at each small stage as it approaches, don't let the big picture swamp you, because for a lot of it you're borrowing trouble. Good luck with the lumpectomy, and we're here as the rooting section for the chemo. You might want to go scan the very long thread of Michelle's that started last year - right up to today's gloriously good outcome. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: GUEST,bseed(charleskratz)who's lost his cookie aga Date: 23 Mar 11 - 03:02 AM Keep on the sunny side, Dan and Linda. We sang that tonight at my 2nd and 4th Tuesday jam, and I dedicate it (in retrospect) to you guys. Lots of love, my friend. Charles |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: GUEST,cookieless seed again Date: 23 Mar 11 - 03:05 AM As far as I'm concerned no thread about Olddude could possibly be BS. Dan, you're the music man. Charles |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: GUEST,lost my cookies Date: 23 Mar 11 - 03:22 AM For that matter, Dan, you are only one of the Mudcatters I think of this way. I'm actually kind of offended by the idea of putting a BS label on anything involving you or Art Thieme or Big Mick or Kat or Catspaw (really? yup). For that matter, no Mudcatter's life and health is BS. That doesn't mean that nothing posted by any of you guys is necessarily automatically free of noxious odors, but when it comes to your health and your families health and your dreams and burdens, just plain not bullshit. Charles |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 23 Mar 11 - 04:41 AM No...BS now stands for Beautiful Spirit..and Dan has one of the best... Holding you both you and Linda in my heart, Dan. Lizzie ((xx)) |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Mar 11 - 05:54 AM Wish it were better news but it is still pretty positive. I know that doesn't help, but then again, what does? Just pull up your socks and step forward. Personally I don't wear socks ............. don't wear underwear either but let's not get into that here. I'm not sure where we want to get into that but I'm pretty sure it isn't here. We could talk about the sock issue I suppose............no, that's not too good an idea either. Let's just have you get some really long socks, pull 'em up, and get your ass in a positive mood and ready to go into the fray! If your ass is going into the fray maybe you need some new underwear as well. Why not get some black knee socks or better yet get some sock garters!!! Then get some plaid boxers.....really big ones! Now pull them up so the front comes up over your belly and the back barely covers your butt. Then with your socks and garters in place put on some hard sole black dress shoes and the rattiest robe you can find at Frieda's fifth hand shop. If laughter is the best medicine, Linda can probably cut the chemo in half after checking out your new loungewear. Ya' know one of my fears here is that you'll really get into the look.......................yeah......................maybe you should just pull up the socks you have................... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: olddude Date: 23 Mar 11 - 08:20 AM Thank you all ... so very much .. I love you Spaw, thank you for making me laugh .. The surgery is next Thursday. Then they will know the full extent. When the doc was rattling off terms I walk up to her and said young lady all I need to hear is you can fix this because nothing else is acceptable to me ... NOTHING else... she said yes I can and she will be fine .. so that I hold on to .. Last year the mammogram was fine .. fine this year look what we have ... My God |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: SINSULL Date: 23 Mar 11 - 08:27 AM She will be fine, Dan. Take it one day at a time for now, one hour at a time if you have to. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: GUEST,999 Date: 23 Mar 11 - 10:24 AM Forever and Ever, Amen sung by Randy Travis You may think that I'm talking foolish You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free You may wonder how I can promise you now This love that I feel for you always will be. Your not just time that I'm killing I'm no longer one of those guys As sure as I live this love that I give Is gonna be yours until the day that I die, oh baby. Chorus: I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, amen As long as old men sit and talk about the weather As long as old women sit and talk about old men If you wonder how long I'll be faithful I'll be happy to tell you again. I'm gonna love you, forever and ever, Forever and ever, amen. --- Instrumental --- They say that time takes it's toll on the body Makes the young girls brown hair turn gray But honey, I dont care, I ain't in love with your hair And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway. They say time can play tricks on a memory Make people forget things they knew But it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me I've already forgotten every woman but you, oh darlin'. Chorus: I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, amen As long as old men sit and talk about the weather As long as old women sit and talk about old men If you wonder how long I'll be faithful Just listen to how this song ends, I'm gonna love you, forever and ever, Forever and ever, amen. I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, Forever and ever, forever and ever, amen... It's listenable to on Youtube, Dan. Hang tough, buddy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 24 Mar 11 - 09:33 AM Dan, tell Linda that soon she'll be looking as beautiful as Sinead O'Connor. Something Beautiful - Sinead I read somewhere of those lasses who've shaved their hair off completely, or almost all off, before treatment even starts, to avoid their hair falling out in clumps. They felt much better doing it that way, more in control....and they discovered bandanas, gypsy scarves twirled around their heads, great eye make up..sparkling eyeshadows, sexy kohl, big beautiful earrings that dangle and dingle.. Others were simply happy to be bald for as long as it took..and learned to love the fluffiness of their new hair coming through... It'll soon pass, Dan..I know that's so easy for others to say, but it will...and we're all right here with you both...(((XXX))) |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Bobert Date: 24 Mar 11 - 09:58 AM Now I know that will bomb with your wife, Ol-ster, but I'd suggest that you both shave yer heads before the chemo... Plus, there's somethin' real sexy about bald babes... As for the chemo??? I'm sorry to hear that she is going to have it but if it kills off the cancer, as it did with Michelle, then bring it on... BTW, do buy the Dr, Susan Love book on Brest Cancer that I PM'd you about... It answers all those medical questions... And know that ya'll are in my prayers... B~ |
