Does anyone know the words for the song which I think is called The last minstrel show? The chorus is 'Lay me down, Carolina, lay me down, I don't want to wake up on the morning no more...' Does any one out there know the verses? Lizzie

The song was written by Bob Coltman in 1972 and is on Ed Trickett's 1st Folk Legacy record FSI-46, THE TELLING TAKES ME HOME.

Look it up in the DT, Diannity. Type [Before they close the minstrel show] in that box up there. Works like a charm.

Sandy

Oooo, Sandy, good man! You can also buy the record (vinyl dinosaur) from Sandy at Folk Legacy, if he still has some left. I got one about a year ago.
Blessings,
Barbara

Thanks! I tried using just the phrase "the minstral show" and got no results. Now, thanks to you, I've found the two lines I couldn't remember. Many thanks, Dianne

Before They Close the Minstrel Show in the Digital Tradition, written by Bob Coltman. Great songwriter, in my opinion.
