Does anyone know the words for the song which I think is called The last minstrel show? The chorus is 'Lay me down, Carolina, lay me down, I don't want to wake up on the morning no more...' Does any one out there know the verses? Lizzie

Search the Digital Tradition Database. The title is "Before they close the minstrel show." I searched "minstrel show" & it is there.

The song was written by Bob Coltman in 1972 and is on Ed Trickett's 1st Folk Legacy record FSI-46, THE TELLING TAKES ME HOME.

Look it up in the DT, Diannity. Type [Before they close the minstrel show] in that box up there. Works like a charm.

Oooo, Sandy, good man! You can also buy the record (vinyl dinosaur) from Sandy at Folk Legacy, if he still has some left. I got one about a year ago.
