Hello all,

I'm promoting a short tour for St George's day and looking for places to promote it, details below - if anyone has ideas of where to advertise, please let me know - spread the word - up St George!

-----------------

Make St George's Day more than just a foot- note in your diary. The very best in a new wave of English folk music hit The Wardrobe, Leeds 20th April, Cecil Sharp House 22nd April and The Sage Gateshead 23rd April for a short tour in the week of St George's Day in an explosion of music, dance and song which promises a frenzy of enthusiasm.

The Demon Barber Roadshow, a ten piece ensemble of brilliant dancers, singers and musicians, are joined for this ground breaking national tour by the winners of BBC 2 best duo award 2004, John Spiers and Jon Boden and exhilarating four part a cappella harmony from The Witches of Elswick.

Morris, clog and rapper dance performed by the Demons' strong, young dancers has to be seen to be believed. They are taking the energy of English dance into the new millennium and putting the sex back into the tradition. Presented as part of a fast flowing show featuring leading singers and musicians, this is a night not to be missed.

The Demon Barbers have gained widespread recognition, with bookings at major festivals throughout the country, for their original and imaginative approach to the English tradition. Building on the solid base of melodeon, fiddle, concertina and voice their unique sound is created by the interplay between the   traditionally rooted core and the driving rhythm section drawing on contemporary drum and bass styles. For this roadshow they are joined by some of England's most exciting young dancers; black Swan rapper, Fiona and Tiny Taylor and Dogrose Morris.

Both in their twenties, John Spiers and Jon Boden give a refreshing twist to English songs and tunes. Their dynamic stage presence and musicianship have made them two of the most popular and busy performers around.
"The energy and vitality jumps out at you and it is this which is making them one of the most inspirational live acts around." Mike Harding, BBC radio 2.

The Witches of Elswick present finely crafted four part harmony songs in a light-hearted manner delighting audiences around the country.
"warmth, clarity and irrepressible good humour. Put simply, if they're playing at a venue near you, don't miss 'em!" Chris Jones, BBC website.

This exciting tour has been created by Yorkshire based artist's collective, Three's Company, and the English Folk Dance and Song Society. Before each concert there are opportunities to participate and learn more of these traditions and the event should prove the ideal way of celebrating St George's Day 2005.
