Subject: Need advice: Amazon access problem From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 19 Dec 06 - 04:04 PM On December 2 I entered a used book order with Amazon, and received a confirmation e-mail. I haven't received the book, so I thought I'd try to track the shipment. Go to Amazon. For some reason Amazon doesn't recognize that they have an account with my email address, which I used this time and have used with them many times in the past. The confirmation email I received has a "View your Order Summary online" link, and gives the order number and order details, but exercising the link takes me to an Amazon form to sign in with my email address and password. When I do that, I'm told that they have no account for my email address. Searching Amazon's site, I have found no email contact, and no phone contact number. HELP tells me that there are contact numbers on each relevant help page, but I can't seem to get to those pages without signing in. The confirmation email gives montclair_bookcenter as the shipper. Googling montclair_bookcenter gets me a large number of links, each of which is book search results on montclair_bookcenter, entered through other web merchants. I don't find a link to montclair_bookcenter itself. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone else have an idea of how I can contact Amazon? Dave Oesterreich |

Subject: RE: Need advice: Amazon access problem From: katlaughing Date: 19 Dec 06 - 06:02 PM If it from an independent bookseller using amazon for sale, good luck. I ordered a book last summer for my daughter. Two others I'd ordered, from different booksellers arrived in timely fashion. The one never showed up . I wrote to the seller. The only reply I ever got was to say they had sent it and basically not to bother them again. |
Subject: RE: Need advice: Amazon access problem From: Greg F. Date: 19 Dec 06 - 06:04 PM Try going here https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/call-me.html & click the " skip sign in " box. Theoretically, you fill out a request & they then call you back. |
Subject: RE: Need advice: Amazon access problem From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 19 Dec 06 - 09:07 PM Thank you all for your replies. Thank you in particular, GregF, for the telephone contact. I called them, asked them to call back. The phone rang within five seconds (maybe sooner) of my entering the request. The man explained (sort of) that some unspecified information in the order did not agree with what they had on file, so they just let it lie, throwing the hot potato in my lap to contact them. I asked why, since they had my correct email address to send the confirmation to, they couldn't tell me there were problems by email. He gave me some mumbo-jumbo about privacy, and a suspicion that, with a mismatch in data, some stranger was trying to rip them or me off. Bushwah, I say. He will, he says, pass the information to a specialist, who he claims will call me within 24 hours to make the thing go forward. Dave Oesterreich |
