Sorry to hear about your brother Kendall. All my best thoughts go out to you and your family. My old Mum died this weekend. Some goodbyes are never easy. We sang her along and it seemed to help her, myself and my brother.

Strange, isn't it...how on this forum, where words are so important, it's so hard to find the right ones to say. My heart goes out to you and yours, and tonight when I get home, I will indeed light a $#@!-reduction candle. This candle thing may have started out as half a joke years ago, but they're one way for me to think about you when I'm home, away from the computer. I know there'll be $#@! to deal with, and I hope that our thoughts, prayers and the occasional candle will lighten the load.

Well, I'm sorry too, esp if his time here was too short, but things do this. All of them. Plants, animals....not even the rocks live forever as my dad said.

He will finish with this, and no doubt go on to something else. Hopefully better. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my loved ones, but I'll never wish them back here. I miss them for MY sake, not theirs.

Better a life lived long and in wonder than not a life at all. We cannont say what comes after this. I am sure there is something.

My dad left this life in 1989, and for a few years he hung around all the time, mostly checking on Mom. He still stops in for a bit now and then. You just have to believe. And do ask after them......someone will answer.

but if he's anything like you then he has depth, subtlety, wit and sublime quality in his character.

The loss will be profound.

But only because his presence was of such infinite value.

I guess the real important thing now is that he knows that you care...and this doesn't require words. Just being there can speak volumes. It is never easy to lose someone close...all you can do is help them ease the passing.....and remember.

Sorry to come so late to this thread Kendall, but you have my deepest symapthy and best wishes as this part of your brother's life draws to a close.

In the ending days and hours of my closest friend's life we sat together in comfortable silence, the presence of the other was enough for each one. I will remember and value those days long past my own time.

I just got word that my brother died. I saw it coming a year and a half ago but it is still a shock. The end of an era.
