Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: frogprince Date: 23 Nov 05 - 02:34 PM All I know, fellers, is, I was looking for ideas for our Christmas card in Google images, and that popped up. My guess is it's a real record, but your guess is as good as mine. Anyhow, I figured it had to go on the thread. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Nov 05 - 01:15 PM It may be a real album, in a sense...what I mean is, it may be one of those humor/pornographic bizarre albums that makes fun of regular music for the chance to make some dirty or sick jokes. Chinga Chavez, for example, is a supposed artist featured on such albums. "Chinga" means f*ck in Spanish. It's an impossible name for a real Hispanic singer to have. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: dianavan Date: 23 Nov 05 - 02:03 AM Give us a break, frogprince, that can't be a real album. I can understand one of those groups having a goofy name but what are the odds... |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Nov 05 - 11:32 PM One can only wonder... I think Bill Shatner should know about this. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 22 Nov 05 - 10:26 PM Yup! I agree. I just stared and stared at that one. Couldn't haul my eyes away. Because that is one really long ash left on that cigarette. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 18 Nov 05 - 04:43 PM Here you go, Melani. I remember this one. It's a great album. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 18 Nov 05 - 04:37 PM Just in case you were wondering what kind of music is played in the Fifth Ring of Hell... Steel guitar and accordions. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Melani Date: 14 Nov 05 - 11:58 PM I wasn't going to read such a long thread, but I was laughing too hard to let go of the mouse.I was especially delighted to see Jim Post (follow the link to the email from his grandson). I have just done a brief search for, but cannot find, an album I swear I remember seeing in a music store about 20-odd years ago. The picture was multiple images of Derek Bell of the Chieftains playing a number of different instruments, and it was titled, "Derek Bell Plays With Himself." |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 14 Nov 05 - 05:23 PM Oh my! Isn't he lovely. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 14 Nov 05 - 04:44 PM By Request..... of his mother. That was such a nice haircut I gave you, Denis. And it goes so well with that suit I made you. You should do that album I suggested last night. Don't make all that money I spent on the Hammond Fun Machine I got you for last Christmas go to waste. And keep away from those filthy girls too.. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 14 Nov 05 - 04:37 PM Damn! "Who told the model to come dressed for a James-Bond-in-China kinda thing. Oh well, we only have the camera and big red studio and old car parts for 5 more minutes. Cheer up, Manuel! It'll look great. Trust me..." |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 14 Nov 05 - 04:35 PM Oh YES! Thank you, BARDFORD. That is it. I had confused the color of the woman's dress with the background color of the CD. Pretty awful, isn't it? But I bet it sounds even worse than it looks! ;-) Shatner edges out Big George, Manly, but by an admittedly narrow margin. Big George definitely scores high in the charisma department. He pulls a lot of weight. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: GUEST,Manly Upright Date: 14 Nov 05 - 04:31 PM Big George is the only recording artist to seriously rival William Shatner. He has to be seen to be believed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 14 Nov 05 - 04:18 PM Have you met Big George? Blanket on the ground? |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: dianavan Date: 09 Nov 05 - 12:30 AM I laughed myself sick. These are so bad even I feel embarrassed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: GUEST,Bardford Date: 09 Nov 05 - 12:03 AM Little Hawk, you might wanna grab your speed stick, cuz, C & C music factory |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Nov 05 - 11:20 PM "Quit" is not a word you will find in Bill Shatner's vocabulary. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 09:57 PM Actually I kinda like that "Has Been" cover. Very stark, yet overdramatic, like the man himself. Nice design. In the other one, with Shat holding the guitar, if you look at a blow-up of it, he's not actually fingering any known chord. He's even stopped the same string twice, 3 frets apart. Looks like he doesn't know when to quit there, either. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Nov 05 - 09:04 PM I was just about to point out that you had neglected the Great Shatner's album art, Cluin, but you have redeemed yourself. And it doesn't end there! I have an incredibly rare Ktel double album of Shatner that HAS to be heard. I'll play it for people on special request, but only for big bucks or certain other inducements...in some cases... One person offered me a mint condition Martin M-38 Grand Orchestra guitar for that album. No way. This kind of thing is simply priceless. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: wysiwyg Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:47 PM Cluin, I think you may be the last to know.... these people were ALL at the Getaway. A lot of them are Mudcatters, jes' changed they names. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:29 PM I've got this one. Pretty good listening. Laugh till you pee. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:26 PM See? He can try and squeeze it together as much as he wants. The fact is, Bill Shatner has a really huge head. It's been getting bigger every year. The outer man growing to resmble the inner. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:22 PM What I RELALY liked about the Fernwood Trio one was that super groovy avant-gard macaroni font they used for their name. THAT cost `em big bucks, I bet. Just wait'll I post some Shatner covers, LH. Then you can drool. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:21 PM What the hell is that supposed to be in the font anyway? Elbow Macaroni? |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:17 PM Jerry Colonna again. What a shitty act. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Nov 05 - 08:12 PM Omigod. You are sick, man, sick. Really sick. I note that you are really attracted to or else severely bothered by: 1. Nerds! 2. Tacky sexual innuendos! 3. People who are just having good clean FUN! 4. Bizarre perversions. 3. And most of all...ALL of the above at ONCE! EEEEEEEE-YYYAAAAAUGHHH!!!!!!! But listen to this man, just listen: I KNOW one of the original 3 members of the Fernwood Trio! No joke. He lives in Orillia, Ontario, and has played for years off and on in our songcircle, and he usually does the sound (quite well) for the Orillia Folk Society. His name is Dave McMillan. Nice guy. He's still sort of recognizable...being the guy on the right, as you look at the picture...or the guy on the left if you're him in the picture. The Fernwood Trio's name was probably inspired by Fern Resort, a large vacation establishment on one of the lakes here. They used to play it frequently back in the 60's. And ya know what? He said that act got him a lot of good luck with the girls back then. Yesiree. They were the cool of cool. They were mega-cool. Well...until Dylan came along, anyway. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Album Cover Art From: Cluin Date: 08 Nov 05 - 07:44 PM As with this one. Unless he's following in the great tradition of Wilf Carter/Montana Slim or Hank Williams/Luke the Drifter or Sheb Wooley/Ben Colder... Take your partial plate out and you've got a whole new act, brother. Double your pleasure, double yer fun! Get billed (and paid) as a duet and leave town before they call the cops. |
